ok i kind of want to make a blanket like this but i want to make it like this .. any one know how i would go about making the pattern?

Well, the first work is quite pixelated (intentionally) and the second (the Star Trek logo?) has smooth curves.  You will not achieve smooth curves using the small granny squares.  Are you OK with that?  If so, use graph paper or MS Excel (with the cells changed to squares) to draft out the logo before crocheting.  You will have to use trial and error.

You can "blow up" the charts to work as "pixels" for a granny square blanket.

Another good tip I've picked up is using half grannies for the curved parts, there are a ton of tutorials for making the triangles.
