Hanging the Lights

I'm on a roll this month - 3rd wall quilt and all from kits!  I love these penguins with their string of lights.

The pictures don't show it but I did lots of quilting on this quilt - I stitched in the ditch between the border and scene, I outline stitched all the penguins plus around their tummies.  I loop stitched in the snow and there are stars in the sky.  The 'lights' are hearts and I used puff paint on their pom-poms.

Great job, I have this pattern too. Did you sew the string of lights, then add the hearts or did they come together? I have been trouble deciding what to do there. At a local quilting store (my sewing room) they actually have a string of tiny lights but I thought maybe something like yours would look better.

At a local quilting store (my sewing room) they actually have a string of tiny lights but I thought maybe something like yours would look better.

I sewed the string and then hot glued the hearts on - if you can get a string of tiny lights that's what I would do.  Mine was a kit and so it came with the hearts but if I had to pick, it would definitely be the lights.

Thanks!  Now that Christmas is over it really should get put away but it's only been hanging for 3 weeks and I just can't do it.  I think I'll hang it in my craft room year round and just put it in the main part of the house for December.
