Yeah, it's my boyfriend's sewing machine.  He sews little bike messenger hats for himself  and alters all his clothes.  None of his pants are tight enough for him...I know, I scored!  He rocks.

And the free store...my other favorite thing in the world.  At the recycling center a block away from my house, they set up a little shed where people can drop off their unwanted clothes and shoes.  Then anyone can come and dig through the boxes and take whatever they want.  Some stuff is stained or torn but mostly it's perfectly good clothes.  I'd say 80% of my wardrobe is from there, and the rest is dumpstered or from other free stores.  And this week I found a Lacroix dress, a Betsey Johnson skirt, Abercrombie jeans.  Mostly I find Gap and Old Navy stuff tho...

In my hometown, they set up a freestore just once a year, for the 3 days that all the college students moved.  People who had bike carts or cars would go around and pick up good stuff that people threw out and bring it back to the store.  Couches, dishes, books, food, jewelry...they had everything.  Other people I know have one at their house, housing co-op, collective, whatever.

It's like having a clothing swap to go to everyday.  There should be one in every town.

Thanks again for all the compliments!  and questions.

It's not like it's the end of the world. ...Which is too bad, because that  I'm really good at.
