We have several strays in our area. It is gonna be a cold winter in Upstate New York. I made a shelter for them to see them through the winter. Just 3 cardboard boxes, straw, duct tape, and plastic sheeting. Link after the picture if you want to help those in your neighborhood...

We have quite a few feral cats in our area, being in Florida we have a much milder winter,  I was reading that a Styrofoam cooler turned upside down, hole cut out on the side and some bedding makes a good  cat shelter-

I have been wanting to do something similar but the cats deal with possums, racoons and armadillos when they get fed- my fear is one of those would take over the shelter

Great idea! My family has adopted a stray in our stray-infested neighborhood in upstate NY too! (I wonder if we're in the same neighborhood?!) I made a home for her (named Phone Call by my then two-year-old) out of a styrofoam cooler as she prefers the outside rather than our house  Smiley
