This is amazing!!!!! Shocked I so want a gryffindor one.  Did you use a pattern? 

I made my own, but I can piece them back together and take a photo you might be able to use tomorrow if thet'll help? Hmm, maybe I could scan the pieces. I'll check it out tomorrow.

Just to show how awesome the skirt is - I had an HP holiday party this weekend. For the first half hour my guests passed the skirt around making little gasping noises and oohing and ahhhing. I had to tackle one friend to get it back and under my tree, lol.
