I've been doing some art abandonment lately, so when I came across The Giving Bunny Project at Urban Threads I had to participate!  They offer a free pattern for cute little bunnies that you make and leave in a public place for a stranger to find and take home.  There's also a really nice printable tag the leave with the bunny that explains the project and gives the web address so the finder can report their find if they want to.  I made a bunch of bunnies!  The directions have you embroider the nose and eyes, but I made mine out of felt and sewed them on; it's faster that way for me.  Today I left two of them at the post office, and I plan to have a couple of them in my car or in my purse when I go out so I'm ready to drop one somewhere if I find a good spot.

Hi Leslie - I printed out the pattern and hope to make some also. Glad to see you used color instead of all white.

I will try to make a few before all the swaps begin this weekend.

I got the pattern too. I love that you did the nose and eyes yourself. My family and I are going on Vacation in January. I want to leave a bunch that say Made in Canada.

Ooooooooh - I work across the street from a children's hospital - wonder how it would go if I made these and abandoned near there with a tag about giving it to a sick kid to cheer them up?

"Made in Canada"--Cute!!  I want to point out that I actually made my own tail too, because I didn't have any pompoms.  I blogged about it if you want to see how I did it:  http://lesliesartandsew.blogspot.com/2012/12/release-bunnies.html

That's a great idea!  Or even venture into the lobby of the hospital and leave some there, where family members would find them to give to their child.

Is anyone else having trouble opening the pattern? I tried at home and at work, and neither computer would open it. Sad

Even though it is a free pattern, you have to "purchase" it by putting it in your cart and checking out...then you should be able to download it or have it sent to your email.

Yes, I did that, but for the life of me I cannot open the "zip" file that was sent to me...

I didn't have any trouble opening the one for hand embroidery, but after reading this I went and got the machine embroidery one, and I couldn't open it.  Hmmm.  I don't know enough about computer stuff to know how to help you, sorry!
