Maybe I missed it, but what about cutting the hole in the middle of the brim piece (where a head would go)?  Not that I couldn't just figure that out myself....

No you didn't miss it I didn't include it- I cut the hole for the head using an xacto knife after the hat was completed and dried before Painting and embellishing- you can see the top of the hats outline- just cut carefully

if you plan to use this as a fascinator or attaching a clip or bobby pin as suggested- you may not want the hole for the head cut out
