I don't know if it is the cards I have or not, but I can't get any kind of paint to stick to the cards. I guess I'll go get some of the gesso this weekend.  Undecided

Thats not good. Does glue stick? (to the cards I mean!) just thinking you could collage on to them.

Yes, glue sticks to them. I plan on collaging some of them. I purchased some gesso and a new deck of cards today, so I'm sure everything will turn out fine.  Grin

Anybody paint theirs? How do you finish over acrylic paint?

I'm using a matte finishing spray over all of mine, just to prevent smudging/color transfer on them. By the way, I've been informed that some of the ones I used this spray on have a slight spray-painty odor, so is that going to be a problem for those in Groups 1, 3, and 4 with perfume/fragrance allergies? Let me know and I won't do it to yours.

Spray paint is totally okay with me.  Sounds fun actually...hmm...

I had to lightly sand and then gesso mine.  They're coated specifically to repel any moisture and it's hard for me to get through that stuff.

planning on collaging over the whole card, is it ok if the card is unrecognizable as an old playing card?

I ended up using a high-gloss decoupage spray to cover my acrylics. "decorative painting" was one of the "this product works on" categories on the can, and since I already owned it... freebie score!! I love free.
