A few years ago my mom and I were in a craft store and found this idea. I had planned on making a bunch that year, but slacked. They've moved with me and I finally got around to decorating more of them this year.

Basically you find a peel and stick stained glass paint and go to town on glass balls. Either using the paints directly on the ornaments or by painting onto a flat surface and transferring it onto the ornament.

Here's the ones I've done so far using different ideas. I'm sure I'll have more by the time Christmas rolls around so I'll be sure to post them.

Let me know if you have any questions or just what you think.
If there's an ornament in the group photo you have questions about, let me know.

Here's the lot I've done so far:

These are done by just randomly squirting colors on the balls.

This one is done by painting the ball and then painting the circles on a flat surface, filling with sparkles, and peeling/sticking those on top.

This is the one my hubby made. I just wanted to show off his crafty skills.  Grin

And this one is done by painting the inside of the ball and then using leading paint outside.

I'll be sure to add more as I have pictures and as I make them.  Grin

I had no idea there was peel & stick stained glass stuff, but I think I'm in love!  These are so beautiful and sound fun to make, too.

I hadn't before this either and I'm so happy I found it! Do share if you end up making some.

Oh. And instead of buying a special hanger thingy, I just bent a wire hanger to make a stand for them to try.

Thanks so much! They are fun and easy. The only problem is having patience for them to dry.  Cheesy

Thanks jenna rose. I think this is the first time I've been bookmarked.  Cheesy

I have two different kinds of paint. One's a few years old and I bought in the States - DecoArt Liquid Rainbow - and the other one I bought a week or so ago but in Canada - Gallery Glass Window Color by Plaid. The Plaid one came in a pack of Christmas-y colors of 5 for about $16.99. But again, that's in Canada.

Here's the site about the Gallery Glass: http://www.plaidonline.com/apGG.asp
And here's the site about Liquid Rainbow: http://www.decoart.com/cgi-bin/Products.cgi?Liquid_Rainbow

Great looking ornaments.  I made some with paint swirled on the inside.  I used college colors, and colors of favorite pro teams.  I bought white boxes that fit the ornaments.  They were all one piece that I folded together, the lid flipped up.  I stamped and embossed the lid with a pine branch.  I filled the box with shredded paper in red or green.  No need to wrap or tie a bow!  Everyone loved there ornament and especially the boxes.

I love the look of these; I can imagine how amazing they would look with lights shining through them on the tree. Grin
