USPS Mail Hold

Question came up on a swap from an international swapper.  When someone goes away on vacation in the US & puts their mail on hold, the hold would include packages, too, correct?  They won't send the package back, right?

When I've held my mail everything was held until I retrieved it. In was all in one of those big cardboard boxes they use, but they didn't let me keep the box.

I recently discovered that the only thing that USPS will not hold are state and goverment issued documents ..... like renewed driver's licenses

Mail will hold, but if it's sent via private service (like FedEx), those do not get held.

Well, I ended up opening a help desk ticket.  Since the receiver was going out of town for several weeks and both swapper/swappee were good with it, we extended the swap deadline for her to send to when she came back.

The mail will be held unless it is certified to be delivered by a certain date, and return if undelivered by that time. Also, you can temporarily change your address too. If you tell the USPS that you need a temp. address change, they will forward your mail to wherever it needs to go until you return.
