I made this piece for the Alpha Stamps Twelve Days of Christmas Event. I had day 8 and instead of doing the eight maids-a-milking, I decided to mix it up a bit and do 8 Prima donnas.
My inspiration came from this neat Victorian Exploding box....it has eight side on the inside and was perfect for my eight ladies.

Take the lid off......voila!

Inside the little pockets are the Prima donnas....here's a close-up of the girls.

Oh boy -- I recently considered doing an exploding box for a project (thought it could be a fun counting-teaching tool for tiny kids), but nothing, nothing as beautiful as this came close to crossing my mind.

I love that you put it on a stand and I love the tassels and the top knob... just completely lovely.

Thank you for the kind words everybody! It was a lot of work (making those dang tassels) but very satisfying.

Wow.  I'd never heard of an exploding box before (I know, I know, I live under a rock) so my mind is now blown on at least half a dozen levels.  Bravo.
