*sorry for blurry pictures, it's impossible to get her to stand still for a picture when she's not over the moon excited.  These were hard enough to get*

I've had these awesome red silk Pj's stashed in my "reuse" pile for ever, saving them for the perfect project because the fabric is so great, but limited.  At first I was going to use it with some black crushed velvet I also had to make my daught an evil queen dress for her 5th birthday.  Then of course I realized her birthday's in July and an evil queen dress would probably give her heat stroke.  She's been big on Batman lately so I came up with this:

Originally I wanted both skirts to be pixie cut with alternating points, but I didn't realize I had cut out the wrong skirt pattern piece until I had 4/8 cut out  so I went with a full circle for the red underskirt and I think it works just fine.

Cutting out the symbol was a total pain.  It took me three tries before I figured out to use some interfacing on the black to make it stiff enough to keep the right shape.  Then I glued it onto the red and appliqued it afterwards.

She's pretty darn stoked about it.  The best part is the first time we took her out she had at least four people compliment her on it.  She's pretty good about giving me credit for making it for her.

Great dress & brilliant combination of colours. I too think the circle skirt/pixie skirt combo works really well.
