Whistley, so sorry to hear about your loss.  I had my first big loss of a beloved pet (my Welsh Terrier, Murphy), it will be four years ago on May 5th of this year.  I still cry sometimes.  I love the idea of having markers to indicate significant events that happen throughout the year.

I am so grateful for the Craftster community.  Bless you all.

I love this idea!  I am a little late to do it for the 2013 year, but I was thinking about making a quilt or afghan based on this idea but for my daughters.

My eldest is turning 7 this year and maybe I'll do it starting 2/16 (Her 7th birthday) and make it all year until her 8th birthday and give it to her for her birthday.  Then 5 months after K turns 8, her little sis turns 7 and I can do it for her too.

I was raised in a faith that considered the age of 8 the age of accountability, and even though I am no longer a member or believer of that faith, I think it will be a nice tie in to who I used to be... At the age of 8 they both get a quilt made by mommy, to symbolize their last year of being a little girl and that now they are a big girl... man, they are growing up too fast.

What a lovely idea!  We crafting people are lucky that we can make things to commemorate important events in our lives...and while you are making your project, you are sharing some history and valuable time with your daughters!

phizzy--I love seeing your scarf from England...we share the same sky, but different weather...I love that oatmeal color as well...

I agree! It's really interesting to compare them all together.

The oatmeal has flecks in it too which are amusing. There was no red in the sky...

well, I am planning on using a burnt orange to divide my months only because I seriously cannot live without more color in that scarf!   I doubt that at 11 am there is any orange in our sky, but I like it and it is my scarf!

I am so happy to be seeing all of your gorgeous projects.  alwaysinmyroom, I love the idea of the month indicator, it will be such a great way to be able to go back to appreciate each part of the year via the scarf (and know which is what!).  Hmm... I wonder how to know which is the beginning, and which is the end, years later?  I'm a novice knitter, so I don't know that I would "recognize" if there is a difference on the cast-on versus bound-off stitches (is there?).

Phizzychick, I love your colors - so many beautiful variations of blue!  And the oatmeal is perfect for those cloudy days (maybe the red fleck could be the idea of the sun being somewhere up above the clouds  )

I'm so excited to start!  My yarn shipped a day or two ago; I'm hoping it arrives by the weekend.  I've loved looking out each morning and recording the day's weather.  I have gotten so much more connected to NOW, and TODAY.

I am doing the "One Little Word" workshop, and for 2013 I chose the word CONSCIOUS.  I wanted to a) be more mindful, and b) ensure that I am THINKING about the things I do each day (making choices toward what I want, versus "riding the wave" and living on autopilot). "CONSCIOUS" seemed to be the best word to do justice to both of those desires.  This project is a perfect complement.
