alwaysinmyroom, that's a great method for keeping track!

I bought a whole bunch of floss (I think I got almost every shade of blue and grey... I went a little crazy... good thing it was only floss and not yarn!), but didn't set everything up yet. I decided, for consistency, to check the sky around 11 am each day. It's lunchtime at school, and I'm always awake at that time when I'm not working.

Originally, the science teacher geek in my really wanted to do the morning sky to represent how it changed over the course of the year due to A) changing length of daylight hours and B) daylight savings time. But, it would bug me to have weekend days not fit in with the flow, because I'm almost never awake as early on the weekends.

I'm seriously considering joining in the fun. Think I'll be crocheting yo-yo's instead of making a scarf. To keep things simple I've isolated a small patch of sky that I'll be observing around 15:00 each day. Will see if I can pick up some yarn over the weekend.

I just picked up my yarn so I am good to go! I'm never very good at staying within the lines so I just have one massive ball of variegated blues, a solid blue and two different greys with flecks. The variegated blue ball is thicker as I want that to be more prominent and am not worried about uniformity. I'm just going to select the closest to the sky at that moment,12 noon each day. I have two photos, so I can catch up. I'm thinking of including things I find in the scarf too. In the street that day, or that remind me of events etc. I probably won't wear the scarf, but I'm thinking of incorporating it in a wallhanging/curtain. I'll post a photo of my yarn in a bit. Smiley

phizzy--I am also going to incorporate some things in my scarf to commemorate special days...I haven't quite figured out how I will attach them, but I would like to mark my wedding anniversary (Jan 6) and other events...

I looked up at the sky at 11 am---light blue, cloudy, but beautiful...what a difference a day makes after yestedday's dreariness! Cheesy

btw--if you are following the knitting pattern, it is TWO rows of knitting so that your scarf will be long enough! Cheesy  I have to figure out the "wrap the yarn along the edge thing"...I am not about to weave in daily! Cheesy

I like the cheat sheet too. Stopping after just 1 row (well, one and back again) was odd. This will be fun! Because I'm not using lace weight yarn I may have a Doctor Who length sky scarf by the end of the year.  Cheesy

Ive had 2 nice blue days in a row!!!  As for my yarn, I'm trying to work mostly from my stash, so I'm using all different weights, I like the thick to thin look.  But I've been slacking, I haven't crocheted a row yet, but I've taken my pics!!!  I will catch up when I have a free minute, lately Daysie just smacks yarn out of my hands if she sees it!!  Cheesy

I'm thinking of maybe knitting mine in the round to make a tube or making a bigger scarf that I can use as a wrap.  I have a long time to think about it as my yarn likely won't arrive till the end of the month....

I love the idea of attaching stuff either found or meaningful....

A wrap would be fun! I also think it would be fun to knit more rows and create a Dr Who style sky scarf.

Here's my choices. Obviously I'll have to be selective with the big 'un Smiley

The big one can represent so many days depending on your mood!  It can be happy, blue skies and even dreary skies...you can combine it with one of the others to get the right ones...lovely and textural yarns...can't wait to see your progress!

A wrap in your own sky scarf would be lovely, AM---in those cold Canadian winters, hopefully, you can be wrapped in some blue skies! Cheesy

If I do a wrap I'll have to order more yarn....that is pretty tragic though I would suck it up for the sake of the project.  I'm tough that way Cheesy
