I think I might join in this too. At the very least it would make my calendars more attractive.

I think, if I do this, what I am going to do is pick a set time of day and then get my kids to colour a square on our fridge calendar. That way they can be involved too. And it won't matter so much if I miss a day or two of actual crafting

ooh! I'm in! I will start mine on January 1st. I'll see if I can do it for a whole year and not loose my attention span for it. I'm kind of bad at keeping up with long term projects. I am more likely to site and marathon for 24 hours at a time than I am to be able to work on something day after day for many days. This will be good for me!

After a few preliminary sketches and some math, I think a 3x2 inch rectangle will give me a nice lap size quilt... And I might do the "ask a stranger for a colour"  for the backing.

technicolor--I tend to be a marathon crafter...I get obsessed and will not sleep until my project is done...my theme for next year is BALANCE...I know i will still do marathon knitting but this one will slow me down..

silvermoon--what a fabulous way to get your kids involved...

Missingwillow--it might be a bit more work, but maybe you could do a mini-journal of some sort..I was thinking that if you took a page and divided it into a grid, you could paint or otherwise color a part of the grid each day...maybe when a page is done, you could embellish it in some meaningful way...at the end of a the year, you would have a beautiful art journal

I just might have to give this a go, although checking the sky at the same time every day might be a challenge. I may have to carry the yarn and scarf in progress with me, that way I can quickly crochet a row when I have a chance to look. I'll have to dig through my yarn stash to see if I have enough colors to use (I may need to buy some shades of grey...).

I'm a little worried about my ability to stick with it for a whole year, but I'll try!

I already have a daily alarm set in my blackberry. . I figure i will look and record and sew a week at a time. Im just trying to figure a way to differentiate when im on vacation or not at home. Cause those skies will be different.

Whatever sky is in your day should be what you record...or, you could record where you are and then look up your home base and do both!

I was thinking the same thing... If I plan to check the sky only at home, most of the time my scarf will be dark blue (leave in the dark, come home in the dark), so I figured that I'd try to check the sky at least once a day from wherever I am. The only consistent bit of "free time" I have at work is lunch (10:45 am to 11:12 am), so I may try to make my daily sky check at that time, no matter where I am, even on the weekends (or during school breaks). I'll have to tie a piece of yarn to my lunch bag to remind me

I decided to go with this and do moods, as I have noon everyday to check my mood. I got this chart to use as my wallpaper to guide me. This chart is great as I will only need a dozen colors and I can tell I will probably need more of the calm and very happy (I'm an optimist). Hopefully no stress (black) or fear (red)
