I think I'm going to do some practicing (after I finish frantically knitting!) and do a hoop of knots. Right now I think I'll go with the colonial, because French knots have made me frustrated when I tried them before. Hence, the practice.  Actually, I might do 2 - one sky, and one mood. The sky one will be a spiral, and the mood one will just meander in whatever direction I feel like.

These ideas are all fantastic!  I love all the sky fabric patterns!  And knots!  Knots are fun!
That being said, I'm also planning on attempting an ATC a day for 2013, so I'm not sure how much energy or will I will have to continue something like this, but we will see...  Maybe a knot a day....

I think this is a grand idea as you have more control over the colors. I'm still debating a very small quilt too with each square a mood color with the day embroidered on as a way to practice stitching. Hmm, looking at what I can do with what I have. On an atc you would be able to include elements that reflect your mood, such as rainbows for happy or whatever you felt appropriate. I'm not sure I have the discipline to embroider as I only know 2 stitches.

I love this idea (and the many variations in this thread!) and think I'll give it a try as well.  I'll have to get me some yarn ordered up since I live in a yarn barren place so might have to play catch up until Canada Post decides to deliver.  Where did you purchase your yarn alwaysinmyroom?

I purchased it from www.knitpicks.com .  It is fingering weight and the same yarn that one of my favorites on ravelry used with great success...and it was inexpensive for wool...
