My first attempt! I saw salt dough ornaments on Pinterest and thought they looked pretty easy. (Apparently everyone made these as kids except me.) I googled how to do it and used this instruction: http://genxfinance.com/how-to-make-salt-dough-ornaments-with-your-kids/. I did have to fiddle the amounts of everything and since it was just a trial batch I made a very small amount. Here they are:

One thing I did read somewhere was to seal them in between every step. Bake, seal. Paint, seal. Then seal again for good measure so they will last a good long time. And I hope they do because I never want to forget these hands being this tiny. I think I'll make some every year. (I might even make another batch this year for presents.)

Nicely done, and a nice keepsake of your kids.

I remember doing them as a child - we made ornaments using the dough to make a frame and putting our pictures in them.  Be careful, as they do shatter too Sad

I love how they are different colors, and painted. Each way makes the handprint pop in a different way. Another tip, when you put them up for the year, put some of those silica packs that come in shoes in with the bag. This will help keeping them from molding Smiley
