Love this. The tutorial is wonderful. Love all the ideas that stemmed out of this. Intimidated for sure to post my entry, but will anyway. I actually love this. Can you get that gold rub on in different colors and metalics?

you CAN get the wax paste in other colors, tho i think it's only silver, other shades of gold, and *maybe* a copper or something.... Smiley

happy crafting

This is so beautiful! I love the texture in it. I think it actually looks like a heavy metal, made to resemble wood or rope. That gold paste really added a gorgeous touch. You giving us your secret is so very thoughtful! Thank you!

thanks! i agree--does look like metal or wood.

actually, i kinda think it looks like tooled leather, which i am always looking to create cruelty-free vegan subsitutes for...one more faux leather technique in my craft arsenal Smiley

----------Edit 12/9/12
I started making my own mask! It was much more difficult handling the thread than I thought it would be.  I am much more impressed with how lovely you make yours now.  This is really fun!  Thank you for doing this. I have many fun hours ahead of me making more and figuring out how to do it better each time.

it actually matches your natural hair pretty well. my first thought was that you had braided your hair across your face. very interesting effect...
