I am going to assume this goes here and not in polymer clay. Been working on a Christmas present for my friend. This was my first attempt at this and I thought it turned out well (I have made 3 other different pictures now) I rolled out polymer clay then used a cutting tool that I made from a piece of iron stock cut out the squares, baked it, then glued them to a frame that I made from under laminate wood and scrap pine. This ended up being 4800 squares and is about 32 x 23 inches.

Here is how I cut out the squares (before baking them)

Time, Yes, Concentration, somewhat. After making the picture (I took the original and scaled it down to 72x56 pixels then zoomed in, added grid lines, and simplified the colors) you just follow line by line. The annoying part was I made it 72 x 56 because my squares were going to be 1/2" x 1/2" so it would have bee 36" x 28" so I built the frame for that. But I could not find a 1/2 x 1/2 cutting tool and the one I made was like 7/16" x 7/16" so the picture ended up being like 80 x 60 so I had to make up some of the picture around the edges. but the worst part would be making a couple trays of the squares (which took the most time, I just worked on them after I got home from my job and was watching TV) and after making like 1000 squares (which took like 3 or more hours) and baking them then blowing through them in like 30 minutes (it only took like 2.5 minutes per row) So yeah making squares was the worst part.

Wow, that's a lot of work!  Great outcome, I'm sure it was worth it.
