This is my third stained glass piece. It's my own design and I am pretty proud of it! An angler fish is a deep sea fish that has an appendage that actually glows in the deep sea dark to attract fish to eat. That is what the marble hanging from the wire is. The other strange thing is that this is the female. The male is actually a much smaller less intimidating fish that when it finds the female, bites her, and his jaws begin to meld into her body. His body is eventually absorbed by her and she can use his parts to mate when she sees fit. That is what the long piece with the clear marble and fin on the bottom is; it's her husband!

Oh! One more thing! This is a large heavy piece and I am afraid of hanging it by suction cups on a window. What if it falls?! Should I make it a panel or something? Is there a way to hang it safely? What about hanging it on a wall or something while making it still glow? I... dunno. Haha. I mean maybe I can hang it from the wall above the window...

Whoa! I remember learning about Angler Fish a long time ago--and I recognized yours immediately! I love the use of the glass marbles (they probably have a name besides marbles) and the bright colors! I have a couple of pieces of stained glass that are heavy. They have loops soldered on and hang by chain from the window frame.
Thanks for sharing your lady!

I love deep sea fangly fish. Here is a short cartoon that features it, I was hoping to make an ornament this year of one. Yours is awesome, BTW. Also, I did not know about the husband thing, makes this cartoon somewhat more plausible and funny to me, if that's possible. Enjoy! If you click on the word Cheat on the last screen, you can see an ad for deep sea fangly fishes too.  Wink
