Well I was hoping to get a lot done over the weekend.... but there was a change in plans... I'm just so excited I'll share! Ha ha

I was adopted and saturday I was working on my doll and in the mail i had requested my original birth certificate and I had received it and because of facebook found my birth mom in about 5 minutes! I chatted with her most of the weekend and am just trying to get back in the crafting mood today! So far so good!

My extra is almost done!!!! But I maybe won't mail by the end of the week....

I dont quite like the concept I came up with I think tonight I am going to go back to my original ideas and play around with some new fabrics.  I just didn't accomplish the right look I wanted on my first attempt.
Yes, I understand, that's why I am working on #2.

And congrats CraftyMommaBee! How exciting!

Sharalee, they are so perfect for you, all decked out as they are!

Ok, back to work. I've wasted all weekend setting up for school (books, reading etc.) that I've slacked on the crafting.
Oh, well and yes I did have to take apart the machine and dust/oil because it jammed. Off to try some sewing on it. :p

assuming you WANT it to be "darker", here's my experience:

it is the surface finishing techniques that truly make something "darker", and that create visual cohesiveness.
often, DURING the early/middle stages, some of my stuff will look garish or overly bright. but that is because i know i will finish with washes of dark acrylic, or metallic patina, or something that will subdue and harmonize the elements.

always test on scraps first
!!! so, take the scraps of all the materials u used for your doll, and see what happens if u do any of the following:
--u brush all with dark acrylic diluted with water
--lightly spray paint from afar with dark color
--dredge through dark coffee
--roll in dirt, beat with rocks, sand raised areas, etc
--remove one eye, or add some messy stitching, etc

Thank you for your tips!!

Making things "imperfect" is like a fight for me!!! I will try some of your ideas when I get home!!

Thanks again!
