I'm beginning to feel like a small-time crafter in a group of mixed media artists.  Y'all are talking about cohesive design elements and organizing your scrap stash.  I haven't pulled out the first piece of fabric for this, but I know where my jar of instant coffee is.

I have been busy working on making fabric bags of a desiccant for drying out my sweaty workout gear, ha ha!  Yeah, I'm a standout crafter 

We are all at different levels of our crafty journeys.  That's part of what makes craftster so fun.  Just because a few of us have been crafting for a long time, or have art degrees, doesn't mean that we can't learn a thing or two from some one picking up a needle for the first time.  I think all WingsOfClay was doing was thinking outloud about her process.  I can't think too much about what I will do, because it will change as soon as I start working, and then I just weird my self out trying to figure out which of my rules to follow.  All I know about what I will do so far is 1. I'm going to play around with bleaching out some dark fabrics and then adding color back in and 2. I will sew some foundlings (stuff I have picked up out side while walking the dogs...NO!  Not the stuff I pick up from the dogs! That's just nasty! ) on some where for some appropriate reason.

And just remember this is all about FUN, and it's not a competition

I think that overthinking helps some people and hurts others...isn't it wonderful that we are all so unique in our ideas, skills, vision, etc?  That is what I love most about Craftster...it is more about crafting for yourself and sharing yourself than to be in a contest or be judged...I am sure each doll is going to reflect each person so well.... and I would love to have a doll from each person...so here is my address....

Me too.
For me swapping is about pushing myself to try new things, going out of my comfort zone in terms of technique or materials or execution and meeting some cool new crafty friends who have advice and experience and a different point of view.

(That's why this and the Prayer Flag swaps are #102 and #103 for me - yikes!)

wow smmart!  Congrats!  You have pushed your envelope a lot!  I am amazed each dotee swap to see what new and unique things you come up with...I admire your creativity and skills a lot!

I love Craftster so much! At first I felt a little intimidated by all those well-experienced Craftsters I seemed to see around here. And in the beginning I felt insecure about my English.
Than you post a project or two, comment on projects you like and join a swap or so (or a hundred or so,hahaha). Both my English and my crafting improved so much! I feel so at home and at ease here and I have NEVER felt judged or that I have to prove something. You feel like my friends, some even like long-time friends and I love that!


We should start a poetry-club with all those nice thoughts and comments!

I'm loving the new practice dolls I am seeing! I love seeing everyone's personal style come through on them!

And thank you all for the beautiful birthday wishes! I actually stayed away from the computer yesterday! I came on this morning to catch up and saw you all remembered! It was the big 3-0 this year and I had been feeling a little scared about it, but all your kind words are making my first day of 30 really great!

I didn't get to work on my doll too much, but I have 10 mug rugs to finish by the end of the day tomorrow. So I am hopeful that Wednesday afternoon will be my day! Can't wait to show him off!
