Details of swap:
This swap was organized so everyone can get something crafty for their birthday! Please read the guidelines carefully.
**You have ONE WEEK after being approved for this swap in which to make your first claim!**
1. This swap is list style, like the Ongoing Wishlist Swap. However, it is NOT chain style. You can choose any birthday Craftster’s list that is posted, rather than only being able to pick from the last one posted like in the OWS.
2. This is a medium item swap. A medium item is defined as a craft or recon, etc that takes you two hours to complete OR $20 worth of store bought items. (If bought from a thrift store, estimate what it would have cost new.) However, you may also substitute a few small items for a medium.
3. If your birthday is in swap's current month, you can post your birthday wish list for this month. To do that, you must first PM me with the swap questionnaire filled out and wait for approval. While you're waiting, be sure to post in the discussion/gallery thread:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=417429.0
4. Once you have been approved, you may post your list of things that you would like to receive. This is the format for your lists: First post your location and a short bio of yourself, then a list of crafted items you would like, then craft supplies (if any) and lastly you can put a few “extras” that aren’t crafted, things like candy or tea. Remember, the more items on your list, the more likely you are to be chosen. The minimum of items to post is five. Also including your wists, etsy favorites, etc. is a good way for people to get the idea of your likes and style. If you have any allergies please type them in red in your bio section. Please see "Tips to Creating a Good List" below.
5. Please post lists only in this thread. Discussion can be done here in the combined discussion/gallery thread:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=417429.0
Please be sure to post here so that you can be part of the discussion and receive. You will not be approved until you have posted in the discussion thread.
6. Every birthday participant must make at least one claim. You may have up to two claims at a time, unless you are an FOC or a first time swapper, and then you can claim again once your items are received (not when you mail out). New swappers may only have one outstanding claim; they may claim again after their first claim is received. FOC's may have 3 outstanding claims at a time. Claims need to be made from the "crafted" and "craft supplies" sections of a person's list. The "extras" are just that--extra items you may want to throw in if you are feeling generous, but claims cannot be solely extras. Keep it crafty :-) (I'm asking that if you are sending mostly supplies, that you craft a little something for the bday babe, even if it's a handmade card.)
7. You may get claimed more than once, but your minimum amount to claim is one. It is possible you may not get claimed at all. In this case you will not be provided a swap angel; angels are only if you get flaked on. However I do my best to make sure everyone gets claimed by keeping track of how many times each person is claimed. If possible try to pick someone who has been claimed 0 times versus someone who has been claimed 3 times.
8. If it is not your birthday but you would like to send a birthday present out you may do so. Fill out the “non-birthday swapper” questionnaire and send it to me for approval. Birthday swappers who receive a present from a non-birthday swapper must send a snail mail thank you card. You will not receive feedback until I hear from the other swapper that they have received a thank you card.
9.
When you choose to fulfill a birthday wish, PM both the organizer AND the chosen Craftster
. At that time, please request the address from the receiver for where to send it. After that, you have 2 weeks to get the item out the door.
10. It is super important for everyone to keep good communication.
It is REQUIRED that you PM me when you've sent
and of course,
don't forget the DC#
. It is REQUIRED that when you receive, you PM me and publicly announce in the gallery (even if you don't have pictures). If you do not send the appropriate PMs, you will receive “poor communication feedback.
11. When one of your items is chosen, please cross it out so that it is easier for others to see what has been chosen. (It wouldn't hurt to thank the person at this time either.)
12.
If you are sending late you must PM TroubleT
by your send-out date. If your send-out date comes and goes and you don’t PM me, you will receive “poor communication” feedback. It should not be my job to hunt you down and find out what is going on.
13.
If you are flaked on in this swap
you will receive an angel, but only in the amount of packages to which you also sent out. For instance, if you send out 2 packages, and are claimed for 3 packages but are flaked on once, you will not receive an angel because you already received 2 packages, which is equal to what you sent. If you send 1 package and are claimed for 1 package and you are flaked on, you will receive 1 angel.
Please make sure to put "Dec. Birthday Swap” or something equivalent in the subject line on all communications. The most important thing to me is communication. Please PM me (TroubleT) when you send and receive, and please reply to my PM's to you in a timely manner.
If you format your PMs like this:
Format for PMs:
Proper label:
"Dec. Bday Swap" and either "Sign-up," "Claim," "Sent," "Received," or "Question"
When sending sent and received PMs include the send-by date, listed in the second post of the main thread, your user name, their user name and the item. Just copy and past the info from the second post if you want!:
Send by Dec. 14
kaz814 to TroubleT -- pretty purse
Outstanding claims allowed:
FOCs: 3 at a time
First time swappers: 1 at a time
Everyone else: 2 at a time
Become an FOC~

TIPS TO CREATING A GOOD LIST
It seems that every month there is someone whose list languishes for a while. I want everyone to get picked so here are some tips for a well-round list:
--Make sure your items are actually mediums and smalls. Quilts are not mediums. Large painted portraits are not mediums. Hand knit sweaters are not mediums. This isn’t to say that you can’t have any large items on your list (some generous soul may have the time and the inclination to choose one of those!), but the majority of the list should be smaller items
--Listing “A surprise” plus a well filled out Craftster profile and a link to your wists (with a decent amount of items on it) is always helpful in getting chosen
--Make sure to post a variety of crafting techniques. If you list appliquéd t-shirts in five various themes and count that as your required five items, that is more like one item for someone to choose, not five. Having various crafting methods (sewn, knit, crocheted, paper crafted, jewelry, etc.) is going to make it easier for people to choose you.
--Check out other lists in past Bday swaps and the Ongoing Wishlist Swap for ideas for things you never knew you wanted!
If you want to SIGN UP TO POST YOUR BIRTHDAY LIST:
QUESTIONNAIRE TO ANSWER (BIRTHDAY SWAPPERS):
Name of swap: Dec 2012 Birthday Swap
Craftster username:
Email address:
Real name & Address (formatted for mailing):
When is your birthday?
Have you read and understand all of the rules to this swap?
Are you willing to send at least a medium item per claim?
(If not then you will not be approved.)
Are you at least 16 years old? Yes/No
Who and what do you claim for crafting? If you do not know yet/it's the beginning of the swap, you have 1 week after being approved to claim someone:
If shipping within the US, I agree to obtain a DC#: Yes/No
If shipping from outside of US, I agree to provide a copy/scan of my mailing receipt. Yes/No
Have you posted in the discussion thread already? If you say yes and haven't I will not approve you. If you say no I will not approve you. Discussion thread found here:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=417429.0
Yes/No
Quiz: What do you have to do if someone who is a non-bday swapper sends you a gift?
Quiz 2: How long do you have to send out after making your claim?
If it is
NOT your birthday
and you want to SEND TO A BIRTHDAY CRAFTSTER:
QUESTIONNAIRE TO ANSWER:
Name of swap- Dec. 2012 Birthday Swap (Non-Bday Craftster)
Craftster username:
Email address:
Real name:
Mailing address, including country and properly formatted for shipping:
Chosen craftster and item (if you know):
If shipping within the US, I agree to obtain a DC#: Yes/No
If shipping from outside of US, I agree to provide a copy/scan of my mailing receipt. Yes/No
I understand that I will be getting a thank you card and not a package for this swap. Yes/No
IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE, REMEMBER TO SEND YOUR INFO TO THE ORGANIZERS VIA PM AND NOT TO REPLY WITH IT HERE.
Also remember to read the Swap Info Guide to find out how to ship your item and other details about participating in a swap.
Please make sure to post in the combined Gallery/Discussion Thread to keep up with updates:

HI! I'm Summer from Texas. I am mom to 3 amazing boys 13, 8, & 8. We live on a ranch outside of Houston that has been in my DH's family for over 150 years. We raise and breed cattle and my sons show cattle all over the state of Texas.
Like most moms today I try to do everything! I work at a local church as the Director of Children's ministry, sit on the twins elementary school PTO, volunteer in scouts, and run around like a chicken with my head cut off. I enjoy scrapbooking, sewing, jewelry making, and various other hobbies. Hobby Lobby is my favorite store - I have memorized the layout, and frequent it often
I am a diehard LSU fan - we bleed purple & gold in our home, and when we are home on a Saturday in the fall, you can be guaranteed that college football will be on the TV!
Here's my wish list - sorry it's lenghty - I wanted to make sure there was lots to choose from!

i love fresh, clean, simple lines, colours and scents. yellow, blue, green, grey, plum! mint, eucalyptus, linen, citrus.
i love to cook and experiment in the kitchen with flavours and techniques. in the summer i am outside in the garden all the time.

i do not like pink, fruity sweet smells and strictly decorative object d'art. my profile has more info. and my pinterest and wist has lots of ideas? i think so anyway.
I don't knit or crochet but I think the ami angry birds are the best things ever. I am a bit of a geeky girl. Science and math, Dr Who, hubby is a gamer so some old skool game things would be cool too.
i trust craftsters judgement and ability to make something AWESOME!

Jenleahlynn wish list
My husband and i have been married for 16 years. we actually started dating at the end of high school.we are christians, and our faith is very important in our home. we also teach kindergarten sunday school classes. we have 4 kids.
our daughters are triplets and are 9 years old, leah, lynn, and lori. obviously not identical. our son Ray is 7. all 4 kids will be having birthdays in january, so my mothers ring has 4 red garnets. this picture is about a year old, and the girls have since cut their hair, so if you need a newer picture to work from i can email you a better one.
We are all big readers. I've read the harry potter series more than once, and am enjoying introducing it to my son. I've always lived in indiana though i am not a big basketball fan. i would rather be swimming. I am a substitute teacher, so somedays i may teaching kindergarten, or the next high school. my education is in architecture, and i loved the creative aspects of it, but i hated the constant deadlines and the stress. Now i would rather put my energy into my family, and being mom at the end of the day.
My favorite projects are to do are drawing, specifically with colored pencils. i started trading atc cards this year. i also love photography and scrapbooking. i just used my birthday money to buy a new camera and am looking forward to trying it out. i also love to learn new things. i dabble at crochet, polymer clay, making jewelry. i would love to learn to do quilling. Our home has a lot of natural wood furniture, arts and crafts, not really country. i love frank lloyd wright. deep red, greens, floral prints, trees, leaves...
we have lots of family photographs hanging up, along with a few landscape painting by my husbands grandmother. i've attempted painting, but i can't control it the way i can pencils. i also collect fiestaware dishes in my kitchen. the kids love to bake, and the girls did cake decorating and gingerbread houses for 4h last year. they have also done photography, sewing, and model building. We have a Bichon Frise, pure white dog named frenchy, that lori is planning to take in dog trainning this year.
ise
Wish list-also see my pinterest!
pinterest.com/jenleahlynn
themes: harry potter, family tree, leaves, star wars, 50's kitchen, bichon frise
-pinterest surprise
-pretty quilted lunch bag-i think there is a law that all female teachers in indiana must have a vera bradley tote. doesn't have to be the real thing, but something pretty. also reusable snack bags
rolled case for drawing pencils( embrodered with 'quills') or for crochet hooks ( wands) needs to have a flap on the top to keep supplies secure
tesha more style tote bag in a harry potter theme-fun characters not dementors-small bag, or patches i can build into a bag
2" wide camera strap cover- i just got a new camera!
long narrow scarves, or cowl- i like darker colors-burgandy, green, purple, navy, and cream is fine for an accessory
family jewelry- stamped pendants personalized with kids names for a necklace or charm bracelet
hair pin-i have long hair that i tend to twist up for work, and i would love a cool hair pin, but no feathers
ambiguri or fabric doll of dobby or luna lovegood
vinyl wall quote "i have found the one whom my soul love-song of solomon 3:4" this was on our wedding announcement
crafty pirate t shirt or hoodie, xl- i run with scissors
button tree, or personalized family tree hoopla or pillow cover
i've been buying clear unmounted stamps, and i've found a few inchies that i like, but i'm not sure how to store them. i've put a couple ideas on my pinterest page, but would love it if you have another system that works well.
supplies- metal stamp alphabet, beginner suppllies for quilling, immortal love 12x12 paper pack, unusual paper for scrapbooks, blank backgrounds for atc cards, labels for the back of cards, unusual metal or glass beads, stazon ink pads any color, polymer clay

Hi December babies!
My name is Margary and I will 33 on December 10th. I live in southeastern Virginia with my awesome husband, two chihuahuas, and an itty bitty black kitty who just happens to be bigger than the chihuahuas! My husband is a tattoo artist and with me being a crafter, our house has many "themes". 1950's diner for the kitchen, pirates for the bathroom, medieval for the living room, and Japanese for the dining room. I enjoy embroidery, sewing, resin jewelry making, and I'm starting to research stained glass. I am pretty easygoing. I like all colors, most fabrics (besides velvet and paisley prints), and most smells (citrus and fresh cut grass are my favorites!).
Themes:
Star Wars (original trilogy), Doctor Who, Universal Movie Monsters (especially Frankenstein and his Bride.), Wonder Woman & Cheetah, The Joker & Harley Quinn, The Walking Dead, Grimm, Once Upon A Time, The Fifth Element, anything involving Jim Henson and the Muppets (especially The Count, Rowlf, and Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem), 1950's kitsch, Halloween, Itchy & Scratchy from The Simpsons, and Nibbler from Futurama.

Hello everyone! I’ve been waiting for my month to come up! My name is Laura and I’m from a small farm in Pennsylvania. I’m a substitute teacher on days I get called in, and on other days I’m a curious crafter and the family chef. I aged to 23 on December 3rd. My other hobbies include extreme outdoor activities, gardening, and spending time with my boyfriend. Over the summer I hiked 20 miles on an overnight backpacking trip, rode 40 miles in a day trip on a bicycle, rode ATVs every month, camping overnight 10 miles from the paved road in 22 degree nights, and other various shorter day hikes. It’s nice to not be as crazy busy and sore from those activities now that it’s getting to be winter time. Yay December birthdays!!
Allergies/dietary restrictions/dislikes:: apples, I’m a vegetarian, and floral scents make me sneeze
Likes: LotR, Hunger Games, woodland creatures, New Girl, Sloppy Firsts series, wolves, owls, foxes, maps, anything with books and literature. I majored in English in college and was part of the yearbook and newspaper staff. I am also a member of Kappa Delta sorority.

Hi. I'm Cindy from Madison WI. I'll be 33 on the 29th. I'm a job coach for adults with developmental disabilities. I also have 2 part time jobs in the floral industry. I spend what little free time I do have volunteering at a place that offers art classes to people with disabilities, crafting, kayaking (when it's warm!), hiking, biking and spending time with my DH and our dog and cats. I had a son and a daughter but neither of them fully made it into this world... It's been a difficult year.
I like clean lines and useful things. I don't care for kawaii type stuff.
Allergies: wool (can't wear it), lavender, eucalyptus
Themes I like: deer, gnomes, birds, black cocker spaniels, black cats, images of Wisconsin with a heart over Madison.
Colors: Brown, white, turquoise, orange, yellow
My wish list:
-Pinterest surprise. The only boards to avoid are: "No, I'm not pregnant again" "Craft Night!!!" "Holidays" "Stuff to make for other people" "Wreaths"
www.pinterest.com/theollieorange
jtlhmmwabodf has claimed me for one- thanks!
- insulated lunchbag with a long strap and at least 2 exterior pockets (my hands are usually pretty full pushing wheel chairs around all day!)
- embroidered or screen printed gnome themed tea towels for my kitchen
- quilted bathmat
http://pinterest.com/pin/4503668348923268/
- Mobiles (no baby themes please) I have quite a few of these pinned.
- cover for my Kitchenaid mixer. My kitchen colors are red, apple green, orange, yellow, blue
- reusable snack bags in fun prints
- felt brooches (pins)
- some sort of reusable (rescentable?) air freshener to hang in my car. This type
http://www.etsy.com/listing/97941324/extra-small-bisque-clay-pottery-pendant
(I'd prefer one not made of polymer clay)
-
artwork of Wisconsin with a heart over Madison
thanks cloud_berry
- "XL wish"- I don't expect to get this, but thought I'd put it out there!- A weekender bag
Supplies:
- Silver leafing foil
- A few alcohol inks to try out
- any length of any of the fabrics I have pinned
- jar of whimsies. I really like miniatures
- 3/32 mercerized cotton for weaving- any colors!
- Brush tip black Sharpie
- presser feet for my Singer: darning foot, blindstitch, bias tape foot
Extras:
- Salted dark chocolate
- vintage ceramic deer
- books

Hi! I'm Syd from Southern Ontario, and I just hit the big 20 this year. I'm a student right now and hope to get a biology degree in a few years. I'm mostly a knitter and spinner, but dabble in anything I can get my hands on. I like video games, reading, crafts, Star Trek, bugs, and yarn hoarding.
Fave colours: green(lime!), brown, charcoal, blue, orange, yellow/grey, red/orange/yellow, pretty much any colour paired with brown, rainbow
Least Fave Colours: purple, red, pastels (although they're okay in small doses)
Etsy faves:
http://www.etsy.com/people/jtlhmmwabodf/favorites?ref=si_fav
Crafts
- pinterest surprise (
http://pinterest.com/jtlhmmwabodf/
)
- FIBRE! Or fibre scraps. Hand-dyed or blended by you. Any type.
- Handspun yarn.
- Beeswax candles. I got gorgeous ones a while back that are nearly burned down.
- Knit/crochet baskets (hanging or not).
- Cat toys (knit/sewn/crochet, whatever. With or without 'nip. The weirder the better)
- T-shirt yarn
- cushy slippers (size US7)
- kitchen dishtowels (some stamped or screenprinted ones would be great, but whatever works)
- An oven mitt.
- Stitch markers. There's a few examples on my pinterest/etsy faves, but I'd like pretty much any. Some plymer clay or beaded ones would be great.
- Probably more of a big wish, but...a hat like this
http://pinterest.com/pin/184999497164866831/
, more or less (21" head)
- small knit or crochet coin pouches
- washable snack bags
- knit lace boot toppers. There's an example on my pinterest, but any style would be cool.
Supplies
- mini skeins (for my beekeepers quilt)
- any unloved yarn you'd like to pass along
- back issues of knitting mags
- linen fabric
- a drop spindle
- buttons!
Extras
-wouldn't say no to candy or chocolate
