OWL UPDATE

I have bad news...I am not going to finish my OWL in time. I have been busy with the OAHPT swap and just have not had time to work on multiple things. I will still post some pictures when I'm done though!

Hello Everyone!  I hope y'all are having a stupendous ~*SPEW Sunday*~**SPEW Sunday is where we promote charity crafting.  And remember, SPEW project earn 10 bonus points if part of a project, or they can stand alone for 10 points.**

I'm still working on my Project Linus blankets, but I just can't stay away from those quick projects.  I went stash diving, pulled out a skein of Northen Lights, and hooked up 5 squares for Afghans for Pine Ridge.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: SPEW Work
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: 5 Northern Light PRR Square
Brief Description: Five 6" squares.  Yarn: Premier Yarns Everyday Soft Worsted Prints  Pattern: Solid Square by Jan Eaton.  Hook Used: I

Challenge: Diary Horocrux
House; ravenclaw
Project:
Quote
Mr Malfoy ripped the sock off the diary, threw it aside... Dobby didn't move. He was holding Harry's disgusting slimy sock, and looking at it as though it were a priceless treasure

I wanted the honour the only good thing the diary horcrux ever achieved - helping to free Dobby. So I made myself some Chamber of Secrets socks - all muddy, slimy, snaky colours - but mismatched because we know Dobby doesn't like matching socks  Grin

~*OWL Proposal*~
NEWT Subject: Charms
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Two Faithful Souls Afghan

Brief Description: For my next NEWT, I am going to delve into the complex world of Charms.  My studies will focus on three charms in particular, the Cheering Charm, the Patronus Charm, and the Fidelius Charm.  The Cheering Charm, which must be used in moderation, (lest the subject of your spellwork become hysterical), will be represented by the color red, long a symbol of joy and luck in cultures around the world.  The Patronus Charm, with which the caster may protect not only him or herself, but also those that they love, will be represented by brightest blue.  Finally, the Fidelius Charm, which binds a secret into the soul of a living person, will be represented by a pure white.  How these charms are created and used will be explored through the creation of a wedding afghan for a friend and former student.  I feel that each of these charms is something her newly formed family will need in the coming years.  The colors chosen also happen to be her wedding colors.  The pattern will again be the Kew Gardens pattern, and the yarns are a variety that Michael's sells called Loops & Threads Country Loom.

As a side note, while picking up some of the yarn tonight after work, a Michael's associate walked up to me and handed me a $5 gift card as part of Random Acts of Kindness Day.  I am taking this as a good omen upon which to begin my studies, and for my friend to begin her marriage with an act of Kindness.
