Today is the last official day of our Winter Break at WKU.    So you know what my department did?  Called a 4 hour long faculty meeting in the middle of it. 

I *wish* I could get away with crocheting in a faculty meeting.  Somehow I know they'd tell me to stop crocheting, start paying attention and start acting more "professionally".  All while 4 other faculty members play with the internet on their smart phones, 2 pass notes back and fourth, and 1 (not at all old one) sleeps with his head down on the desk.

@indigo_roses: I love the colors of the fingerless gloves. And doesn't it feel good to get a project finished that's just been sitting around. Always makes me feel accomplished and a little less guilty. Haha.

@FreakieGeekie: Cute Eeyore! And super cute earrings. Lucky indeed!

@noodle-bug: Cute frames and I LOVE the cross stitches. If/when I get married, I think I want one of those cross stitch samplers! Your aunt/grandma must have been a cross stitching machine! That's so much work, just in the three you have pictured!

@AugustBell: I love the yarn you did!! So cute. And I'm so jealous of your granny stripe blanket already.

@pinkleo: I hope Madam Pomfrey has fixed you up! Lovely squares though!

I might have another project tomorrow. I'm going to work on trying to finish one tonight while I catch up on Dowton Abbey!

Everyone's doing great! Can't wait to see what the ravenclaws come up with their challenge ^^
I'd like to comment on every one of them but somehow my brain doesn't allow me to. Now that everything is unpacked I might be able to properly cheer on every project!

OWL UPDATE:

The cap is done and the rest of the wool has been rolled up and bowled on to curl. It won't dry before a couple of days, thought.
I really don't know when I'll get to re-do Merida's dress. :S I guess this first one counts for the owl, but I'll have to make another one someday, my daughter will grow out of this one in no time!
I still don't know how to make the huge belt buckle. Couldn't find anything on the net.

I also still want to make him some medieval boots, but I'm thinking of crocheting or knitting him booties with a leather sole. That would be cute

I'm considering a new sewing machine now. And we need a new dinning table set, as the table we use is the one I use for crafts. If you lift the cupcake tablecloth you'll see half of it has paint.

So while the hairs dry I'm crocheting my DADA assigment. I finally commited to using this blue wool and so far I'm NOT disapointed. I'll give you a hint....It's something tiny!

I also fiugred out my BBEFB project another tiny, cute little thing. But i guess in HPC there's never too much of those!

Costumers Advice:  You can get empty belt buckles at the craft store.  If you're looking for unusual ones, check out thrift stores for old belts and take them apart.  And of course, there's all kinds of fun stuff to be found on eBay.

I would try polymer clay. I'd first make a base out of wire and aluminum foil, then cover it with the clay and bake. This wouldn't be a functioning buckle, but I think it would work aesthetically.

If the kids are going to wear it for playtime, I'd be afraid that polyclay wouldn't hold up.  Actors, who are much like children, break things if they aren't extremely sturdy.

Also, if you find an awesome buckle, but it's the wrong color, you can always fix that with metallic spray paint or rub & buff, depending on the application.

I didn't realise you work in theatre jennie, me too I'm a sparky on WarHorse in the west end. I occasionally do costume associate work or stage management too, except now I'm taking a second degree I don't really have enough time for those kind of jobs except ad hoc over the summer setting up and disappearing straight after tech. What you up to at the mo?

About the buckle, it looks like a pretty simple round shape so you should be able to pick something up at a good haberdashery - or try a leather stockists or tannery.

Thanks for the finds Jen! They are perfect, but a tad expensive.... I'll keep looking in thrifstore.

Indeed, my 2yr old would definitely scrap a glay belt within seconds!!! ahah. But thanks anyway.
