OWL update:

So, I have been working on my OWL since september, apart from about 6 weeks off over christmas. I started the edging today (Hooray!!) but... well, it's going to be slower work than I had anticipated. Although I am keeping it very simple, the sheer length of yarn I'm dealing with (sewing it, so having to pull I through, untwist it, keep it workable) is really time consuming. I had thought I'd get at least two short edges done today, maybe more.... well... I actually got about a foot and a half done. which is a bot disheartening. Though I do love how that foot and a half looks  Grin

Anyway, I am therefore hoping that headmistress will allow me to up my project to a NEWT? Since I think it will take a minimum of another month - maybe 6 weeks. And I've already done 2 months work on it. Would that be ok?

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Charms
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: First Handspun Yarn
Project Page Link (if available): n/a
Brief Description: I went to a Fiber Arts Extravaganza in December with my BFF and while we were there we were introduced to the art of spinning fiber into yarn. I was immediately drawn to this craft, but it's very intimidating at first. I've been thinking on it since our trip and I finally ordered a drop spindle and some wool roving to try it. I received with my spindle a small amount of sample fiber to practice with. I'd say it was less than an ounce. I watched some YouTube videos and after a couple of terribly botched attempts, I was able to make something that looked more like yarn. I let it rest on the spindle overnight and then I soaked it in warm water and dyed it with Kool-Aid. I made a tiny skein from it that's almost 4 inches long when rolled up. It's far from perfect, but I'm so happy that I did it!

*Owl Update*
I've started my blanket! I've got 21 rows in and some wrist and hand cramps to show for it. I think I better take a break for a couple of days!

GOLLY I've been gone for a while! This past week I moved into a new apartment and started a new job, so I haven't been able to update as much as I wanted to. But I am here again!

Everyone's projects look so great as usual, and I'm loving the OWL updates. I can't wait to start Horcrux hunting! And Headmistresses, the Bertie Botts Beans challenges are inspired!! Eeeep so many exciting things  Grin

I do have one quick project to add, had to make sure to get some time in on the pitch  Wink

Class/Challenge: Ravenclaw Quidditch Defense
House: Ravenclaw!
Project Name: Elephant Pair

Brief Description: So I made this pair of elephants (just on paper, one with paint, the other with scrapbook paper) as a way of getting back into a project I had started a while ago. Now that I'm getting back into the swing of it, hopefully I can turn in the final set as some class homework a bit later. I'll explain my full inspiration behind it there, so that I'm motivated to keep at it!

Here are the two elephants I made yesterday:

Speaking of Ravenclaw Quidditch....you guys rock Eiseldora and noodle-bug!
Great job keeping up with your quidditch practice! You both find another badge pinned to your robes...

You also receive Ravenclaw sapphires!

Training Session 3: The key is TEAMWORK!
Ends Sunday, February 10th

The focus for the next few weeks is teamwork! While we've already gotten quite close, if we can work even more as a team next season, we will be unstoppable! To train this session:

Craft something in a group, for a group, or using more than one crafty talent!

See you on the Quidditch Pitch!
