I like Kit-Kat, unless I'm with 4 or more people.

Class: Herbology
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Snowy Owl Headband
Project Page Link (if available):Owlette pattern
Brief Description: Those mandrakes are horrible! Whipped up this quick pattern before having to re-pot those rotten roots. I've spared you the picture of my goofy face so imagine this around a head.

Up close of the wee owlette:

Coming back to comment on the latest projects! Wow!

@Eiseldora: What a neat bag of runes. Can't wait for the movie to come out!

@noodle-bug: Pretty sleighs. I especially like the description of how it applies to the class. Haha.

@patty_o_furniture: They are pretty neat! You could probably make a business at your girls' school. Smiley

@consultingcorsair: Welcome back! Cozy looking gloves! A lot of people have been making these lately. Makes me want to join in on the fingerless glove train. Haha.

@FiberAlchemist: So many projects!
  • Cute hat!! My favorite part is the puff ball on top. I love hats with puffball tops. They're so much fun.
  • And what a cute Luna doll. You painted her perfectly!
  • That zippered bag looks wonderful! I love love love the fabric. I avoid zippers too. I have a Christmas pillow I made and have been putting off sewing the zipper in it. I just have the fabric folded over and safety pinned. Super classy. Wink
  • Beautiful fox. My knitting envy continues.
  • Awesome sweatshirt! Your sister will LOVE this. I'm pretty sure of that. It's soooooo well done.
  • Such cute little Weasley sweaters. You've been crafting up a storm.

@Audania1: What a neat project! I think your sister in laws are going to love them.

@Naantje: What a good Doctor Who mug! I know a couple people who would love one too. Smiley

@pottermouth: I love that headband! I especially like how you used little beads for the eyes. It really draws attention to the little owls.

@Pinkleo/everyone: I'm quite excited for Diagon Alley! I might try to donate something after the holidays/once I finish my OWL. So much crafting to do. Gah!

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Arithmancy
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Ripple Scarf
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: So, I was all excited about making something "ripply" since the pattern I use has to be a multiple of 7 for the foundation chain. Then when I was about 2/3 of the way through I realized the "7" Arithmancy class was for the OWL, not the class. Nonetheless, it ended up taking THREE skeins of yarn to finish this scarf for my brother for Christmas. (The BF is modeling.) It looks a lot shorter than it is. It's about 6 feet long. (And for anyone who may want to ripple it up. I used Attic24's tutorial found here: attic24.typepad.com/weblog/neat-ripple-pattern.html)

Challenge: Geminio
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Purple tree Kneazle
Brief Description: Everyone knows cats and Kneazles like to climb trees so I thought it would be appropriate for an ornament. Thankfully we have no people of a suspicious nature in our house so one could safely hang in our tree. All it needs now is a hook to hang from the tree.
Project Picture:

I thought the black stitches would contrast nicely with the purple felt.
I used purple felt since I have SO much of it: I found some on sale and I bought quite a bit of it.

FiberAlchemist - wow! so many awesome projects! And thanks for the stenciling tips! Mine have not been coming out as clean either lately. Not sure why. I'm also having trouble with some pieces (like the center of an "A" for example) coming up when I paint over the stencil. I'm not working in an ideal environment at the moment, maybe it's because I'm using a towel on the table to iron on instead of a board? Anyway, everything came out great. I love the fox scarf.

pottermouth - I love that owl pattern. Great ear protection!

WhistleFish - excellent arithmancy! I really like the finished product. It has a nice "manly" feel to it, something I struggle with sometimes!

SKooKuM - cool crayon art! I'm intimidated by it, myself!

FreakieGeekie - Super cute kitty!! The black thread does contrast nicely!!

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Alchemy
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Another Tie-Dye
Project Page Link (if available): n/a
Brief Description: Just another tie-dye for the BIL. This time I did two rounds. One ice, one LWI. It's a little eclectic looking, but I think he'll dig it. It's got the blackening and the reddening covered.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Quidditch/Scavenger Hunt
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Weasley Tee
Project Page Link (if available): n/a
Brief Description: My quidditch-inspired item, that also has red/gold incorporated! I went with Weasley on the back because really, who doesn't want to be a member of the Weasley fam? Think I'll snag the keeper spot Wink

haha...I am almost always dyeing something. It's kind of a problem around here...

In the summer I let DJ play with my dyes. Here's a pic of him squirting some dye on a sheet I turned into a wrap skirt.

It's tough in the winter, especially here at my in-laws house (they are a bit neater than I usually am), but in the summer I just stick him in some old clothes and let him have at it! It's probably easier with only one kiddo, though Wink

My mom saw the one I made for the puppy and said "This would have been cuter with a face and it's a good size for an ornament." So I decided to make one for the tree just for her.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Arithmancy
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Hallows Clock
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: Found this random triangle clock at the local thrift shop and knew right away what it needed to be--a deathly hallows!  So put it in the cart and brought it home to work my magic.  I love it.   However.....  I probably should have made sure the clock actually worked before I put all the time into painting it LOL!  Oh, well.  I can always buy new clock workings for it too.
