Ant Bee. I'm TOTALLY JEALOUS! I can't wait to go there with my kids, which are raised to be perfect little Harry Potter fan without me even trying!

The quilt's going to be awesome, abbee!

My son requested an owl shirt for him. How can I say no?
I'll take a picture of the costume, hopefully with my guy in it!

Newt Progress:
Bought the castle base and all the pegs, and even found some chairs and tables at the local dollar store.  Sanded and stained the castle this week (that took way longer than I thought with all the tiny grooves).  It's still trying to dry, it's been snowing and cold past few days and I can't exactly bring it in the house.  All of the designs for the peg people are drawn out, now I just need to start painting them.  After the castle gets less smelly I can bring it in and start my designs on it.   We'll just see how it goes!

I like Kit-Kat, unless I'm with 4 or more people.

Maman- what an ador-owl-ble sweater!

FreakieGeekie- Snape is looking great and I can't wait to see him with his hair.

Supermutts- WOW! I'll be asking you all sorts of questions while I tackle my quilt. Yours is awesome!

jennie- Fantastic bracelet and I love that you added the Chuck Taylor.

pinkleo- so excited to see your OWL and did you add a pattern link to the La Push blanket earlier? It is a pretty pattern and if I muster the energy I think I'd like to give it a go.

patty_o- Sweet pumpkin pasties! That's a perfect castle! You are going to give us lots of in-progress pictures, right?  Grin

Abbee- yes, our NEWTs are similar! Since I have never made a quilt I figured now would be a great time to attempt one, with all of these quilt projects happening already, so when I am baffled at what to do I can get some tips. My pattern and instructions came from a Quilts and More magazine. It is more or less symmetrical and each t shirt has a border around it. The instructions suggest interfacing each shirt with ultra lightweight fusible interfacing such as Pellon 911FF. Most of my shirts are riddled with holes so I imagine I'll have to do some creative patching before interfacing them, unless interfacing comes in black! Well, off-black, really.

Patty-O will you adopt me?? Holy harpies that's one fine looking castle!

Ant Bee. I'm TOTALLY JEALOUS! I can't wait to go there with my kids, which are raised to be perfect little Harry Potter fan without me even trying!

I'm SO looking forward to it! "Nana" and "Grandfather" (my parents) decided that instead of figuring out gifts for everyone for their birthdays and Christmas for the year they would do an "Experience" instead so... Woo-hoo! (So I guess I shouldn't put myself up for adoption into PattyO's tribe... at least not until after the weekend! haha!) God bless those nephews, because of them we all get to enjoy the boon of "grandparenting"...  Grin

Harry witnessed Professor McGonagall walking right past Peeves who was determinedly loosening a crystal chandelier and could have sworn he heard her tell the poltergeist out of the corner of her mouth 'It unscrews the other way.

Patty, you really need to tell me where you got that castle! My children would LOVE something like that (as much as me!!)

ADVENCED STUDY FRIDAY!!! :

I really like how it turned out, except it's way too long and I'll have to shorten it up. I simply too one of his blue t-shirt (he has TONS of them!) and sewn the plaid kilt to it, then added a band at the shoulder. I need to find the perfect huge belt. Little leather or suede boots would be fun too, and would totally kick ass in a ren fair! ahah!

That said, my daughter got the most wonderfull leather shoes from a swap mate :

She saw them and said: My own Merida shoes!!!!

I'd need to start on the wig now. LOTS of orange to come!!
I also decided I'll redo the dress, even if you kind ladies encouraged me with this one. My daughter is wearing it right now and it's so impractical!

edit to say: PLEASE don't look at the mess in my craft room. I'm almost done packing....

Ant Bee- That's a great thing! Children can make us accumulate so much stuff!

Abbeeroad--they make a fusible tricot or knit interfacing that I use for just about everything, including wovens...I buy it by the bolt because I love it so much! Cheesy  It comes in white and beige...I find the beige is the most versatile...that is one big pile of t-shirt squares! Cheesy

Patty, you really need to tell me where you got that castle!

I got it at Michaels craft.  It was in with the wood birdhouses and frames.  Make sure to buy sandpaper too, you'll need lots of it!  Hope that helps Smiley
