Class: Herbology
House: Gryffindor
House Challenges: Quidditch (Chaser Position) & Scavenger Hunt (Red/Gold)
Project Name: Team Spirit Practice Mitts
Brief Description: I am trying my darnest to make the Gryffindor Quidditch Team this semester, which means lots of practice.  During my practice, I noticed my hands were getting pretty beat up Tongue (I don't have official quidditch pads at home...maybe I'll get some under the tree soon...fingers crossed) so I whipped up a pair of protective mitts, in Gryffindor colors of course.  My fingers are free to grasp the quaffle and my palms stay out of the biting wind.  Now, I'm sure to get a position as Chaser! Grin

Project Picture:

Team Spirit Mitts Stats
Yarn Used: Red Heart Team Spirit
Wand Size: H hook
Pattern Used: I made it up, but took notes if anyone wants it.

How did you do those ribs at the bottom, pinkleo? I didn't know you could do that in crochet!

haha- love that the elf on the shelf is Slytherin. Though I'm not surprised either!!

Yay! The Gryffindor Quidditch Team has a Chaser!! Congrats pinkleo, and with such an awesome project, too!

More points and rubies for Gryffindor!! Smiley

Love the zebra hat, SKooKuM!

Eiseldora - way to commemorate The Hobbit! I really wanted to get through the book before the movie came out. I've tried before but didn't get very far, but then I was pretty young at the time. Probably won't see the movie in the theaters, so that'll buy me more time anyway!

Class: Flying / quidditch training
House: Ravenclaw!
Project: Chocolate sleighs
So, I just spent the day making a bunch of these (boy do I get a lot of craft done when I have a coursework project I should be working on)  candy cane sleighs with chocolate, marshmallow and lollipop cargo. I am hoping to make my the recipients fat enough that they will take up so much space you won't be able to help but notice them - so making them more visible!

and look, shiny gold coins... can our quidditch seeker catch them before they get eaten? She'll / He'll have to move fast!

Oh it's all crochet. Grin  I do the rib first.  It's rows of single crochet in the back loop.  Then, when I got to the palm section, I began the to work on the side of the ribbed single crochet rows.  Works great for hats too.  For those on Ravelry, I'll post my notes of the pattern in the comments later today.  (I'm pinkleo over there as well.)  Let me know if that makes sense; if not, I'll explain it in more detail, perhaps with pics. I love those hairbows! I've never seen anything like them. How do you keep them stiff? Glue?

Yep, I just use hot glue in the pinches or where I need to keep the pieces together.  The ribbon will stay in place after that, there is no starch or anything along with it.

....
and on another note.  Sent my girls to school with snowflakes in their hair.  It wasn't 20 minutes later I had to make three more for other people LOL!

Note from your Headmistresses...

~*Announcing the grand opening of the HPC's very own Diagon Alley!*~
What exactly is Diagon Alley you may ask?  It is a way for you to support the HPC, and advertise your crafty business at the same time.  Your Headmistresses are asking for donations of prizes that will be used throughout the semester as rewards for the hard work of all our members.  We will be doing prize drawings for completion of OWLS & NEWTS, End of the Semester Feast, and Challenge Awards.  Anyone who donates an item will have a picture of it displayed in the Diagon Alley post on page 1 of the thread, as well as a link to their Etsy or Artfire shop for the rest of the semester.  You may donate a finished item, or a gift certificate to your shop.  Once the winner of that prize drawing is announced, you will be responsible for shipping it off to the winner.

If you are interested in donating a prize to the HPC, please send an Owl to jennieingram & pinkleo, listing what you are offering, and where you are willing to ship that item to.  You must include a picture or a link to a picture that we can use here in the thread, and the name of your shop & a link to it so that we may mention it in the post.  PLEASE DO NOT JUST POST THIS IN THE THREAD!

Please know that we do not expect everyone to participate in this call for prizes.  All of us have different things going on in our lives and all of us have different financial circumstances.   No one will be judged for not being involved.  And you may always participate later if you wish.

To see the prizes that are currently being offered, take this Portkey to Diagon Alley.

Diagon Alley!! How exciting!! I have a question and thought others might, too, so I'll ask here rather than via PM:

I would love to donate a prize, but I don't have an online shop to link to. May I still offer an item with a description without a link?
