Class/Challenge/House Pride: History of Magic
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Fire and Ice Hairbows
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: Wanted to make some sculpted hair bows, but didn't want to make ones my girls could only wear in Christmas, ended up on a snowflake.  Thought "ooh ice!" so had to make a fire one to go with it.  Chose the phoenix.  It's from the fire, but also on our family's crest, so it works well for the challenge and for us!

Class: Care of Magical Creatures
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Kneazle Plushie for Puppy
Project Page Link: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=417786.msg4943599#msg4943599
Brief Description: Simple kitty plushie given a tufted tail like a lion to make it a Kneazle. This little Kneazle has donated all its whiskers for wands.
Project Picture:

I understand completely if it doesn't count because it's plain and only has the plumed tail. In retrospect, I should have given it stripes but the puppy won't surrender it.

patty_o, that was a neat idea. I especially love the pheonix design.

Well Freakie, it's for your dog, it doesn't have to be fancy! I like it.

Class: muggle studies
house: gryffendor
project name: mine craft creeper

i created this ornament for shop the swap. It's based on a computer game "minecraft". muggles games don't move without the aide of machines so they are quite limited. I made this from perler beads melted into panels. i found examples where notched panels snapped together, but i just ended up breaking them, so i stitched the panels with thread, and then hot glue....i mean melted with my wand...

i dove into the stash of beads my kids hadn't used in months and it seems to have set off trend as they are making ornaments and bagtags for each others christmas stockings.

class: alchemy
house:gryffendor
project: phoenix

I was creating a hp ornament for a swap, and red and yellow fit right in with the colors of a  phoenix. my plan was to use clay to make it small.  This took a little experimenting. it's been a while since i've worked with clay, and there are so many types available. my first try was a basic red sculpty clay that i was going to highlight with gold paint. it turned out cute, but when i added wire for extra tail feathers, the clay ones cracked off, so he will be nesting in my tree.

for my second attempt, i used a gold filmo polymer clay that i had bought for making pendants because it is lightweight. it also turned out to be strong and flexible, so it held up much better for handling. the hole for the hanging wire, and tail was made before baking. i painted metallic red over the gold, and added the beaded wire after baking and i'm really happy with the effect. this one is ready to soar off to his new home. i hope he arrives by christmas.

Things are really heating up around here!  Cool

Good news for my staying away from stinky low-tides: I managed to fulfill my end of the Unbreakabe Vow pact with my dog. (Yeah, everytime I type that I think Wow. just, wow.) lol

One of the projects was determined to not work out so rather than a fabric scarf with crochet trm I am redesigning it as a crochet infinity scarf. pics when finished, of course.

Here's some thoughts on what I've fond here recently:
@PenguinSoup: Lovethe stripey mitts, the big blocks give it a sleek look.
@SuperMutts: Those pillows could eaily be sold in stores- great gift idea!
@PattyO: love that phoenix ribbon, really neat!
@FreakieGeekie: Great kneazle!
@Jenleahlynn: those phoenixes look great!

Also Welcome back. Jilllybeans and A big "Yesssssssssssss" to ErinAquaheart getting "sorted" into Slytherin! The more the Mightier uh, Merrier!

Oh, and Whistlefish, thanks for the rice recomendation! Handwarmers are on my list for "post holiday crafting" and the tip will come in handy!

Happy Hoggy-oggy Hogwarts!

Class: Potions
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Sorting Hat Ornament
Brief Description: After gawking over chughes HP tree in the HPH2 swap, I sat right down and made the Sorting Hat for my own tree. He sort of came out looking like Oogie Boogie/Creature from the Black Lagoon, but he'll pass and find a home on a lower branch.

oh, and for size reference:
