Challenge: Geminio
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Whine Pillows
Project Page Link (if available): I got the idea from those little free pattern handouts that you see at Joanns fabric but then lost it before I ever got around to making them. Luckily it was something I was able to replicate from memory with no trouble.
Brief Description: (how it fits the requirements, pattern/techniques/recipe used, any fun tips, etc.) My sister in-law is a huge wine fanatic so these pillows are her Christmas present. They are made of burlap and wine themed cotton fabric stuffed with a pillow insert. The burlap was a little too see through for my liking so I made an alteration to the original pattern list of materials and added a layer of some dark colored scrap fabric to the back of the burlap so that the white of the pillow insert didnt show through.

@Naantje: Wonderful embroidery. I think it's the perfect season for heating pads. So warm and cozy!

@ErinAquaheart: Welcome to Hogwarts! We're quite pleased to have you!

@noodle-bug:
Can't wait to see what you have in store for your other half. Smiley

@MamanTattoo: Yea, I imagine that would be hard. I'll have to check out that paint. That gives me quite a few crafting ideas. i didn't know you could do that.

@Abbeeroad: 12 cakes?! That sounds awesome! And thank you! One of them will be on our Christmas card. Made them up last Saturday....hopefully they'll arrive before we leave town so I can get them sent out on time.  Huh As for your crafts: I love that idea of making drawings into ornaments. I can't wait until Luna can draw so I can do that. Maybe I'll do some handprints ones. Love the cards. (I have that same pink fabric!) Must have taken quite some time.

@Ant Bee: Thank you! Smiley As for the rice bags, I read somewhere to use short or medium grain rice. I found medium and used that. Of course I had to test it out and it works wonderfully. I did hear, however, that if you microwave it too long it can burn the rice so I do it in 1-2 minute increments until it's warm enough.

@JennieIngram: Feel better! There's quite a nasty flu going around I hear. I hope that isn't what you have. Ant Bee is right...Madam Pomfrey should have you up and going in no time. Smiley

@PenguinSoup:
Those mitts are awesome! You did an excellent job!

@jillybeans:
Welcome back! Excellent shirt stencils, but I must say the unicorn butt scooting rainbow may be my favorite. You should totally sell that. They all look awesome though. I want to try making one sometime. And your Christmas crafts are adorable, especially the little birdies on blocks.

@tiamatfire:
Oh my gosh. You'll have to send some to me by owl because those look amazing. Haha. Or maybe I'll just make my own. I have to try those kisses. Welcome back!

@Supermutts: Cute wine pillows. I have a couple of friends I know would love them. Haha.

Phew. It's hard to keep up with this board. But I love seeing everyone's craftiness. I'm sure everyone's crafting up a storm to finish Christmas gifts. I keep adding new ones after getting inspired here on Craftster. Everytime I think I'm done Christmas crafting I think of another thing to make people.

I'm definitely crafting up a storm! I wish I had the problem of thinking I was done though. I definitely did not make my goal of finishing everything but secret santa by December. Roll Eyes I got halfway there! Now I just have the other half of all this stuff to finish. 20 minute internet break to rest my hands, then it's back to knitting!

Thanks for all the greetings everyone! I finally decided on a house today. I am going to join Slytherin. I just like the idea of greatness for some unknown reason.... Cheesy I'm going to start some class projects tonight and tomorrow. Hope to have some assignments done before Wednesday night. Wish me luck. Grin

The cookies are pretty easy!  They are from here: http://glutenfreeonashoestring.com/chocolate-thumbprint-cookies-2/

I had to make my own mock Better Batter flour mix because you can't buy it in Canada (and I'm blasted if I'm going to pay $40 just in shipping to get it) using another recipe on the site, and it worked pretty well!  It would be even better though with real Better Batter OR with the mock flour using superfine rice flours (which I also can't buy here, bah!).  They are slightly gritty just because I had to use rice flours that were a standard grind.

Brief Description: Took some amout of little balls of yarn from a frogged sweater and put an avis spell on them. I made this hat as a gift for my nice who is 6 month old. It came out HUGE. I saw other's owl hat being huge on other baby's head and it was really cute so I'm sending it anyway, hope it fits her for a long time Smiley

Currently crafting for herbology and charms. Still left to do for me are Apparition, Arithmancy, Astronomie, CMC, Flying (I should make this a priority, me, a Quidditch Captain!), History of magic, DADA, Muggle studies and Runes. I have an idea for runes...It's pretty literal but I've been wanting to make that for a long time, I don't mind if it doesn't fit in the end.
few. I still have a lot left to do, I realize! And at the same time, I can't do everything in the same month and be bored for the rest of the trimester!
