A happy heart makes the face cheerful! Pr 15:13

Susanab introduced me to the work of Junker Jane, who makes all kinds of creepy and cute dolls.  If you google her name and choose "images", you will be able to get a good feeling for her style.  That's what I did this week when I finally had time to make a doll or two; after looking at tons of pictures of her dolls, I decided on which details I liked best, and made my own.  May I present:  Isabella and Henry!

I happened to have a cutter quilt on hand that was faded, stained and ripped; it was perfect for the front of Isabella.  Everything else came from my fabric and crafting stash.  The face and surface details were all sewn on by hand.

Here's a close-up of Henry:

I put a pin back on Henry, so I can wear him on my winter coat...but at the moment, Isabella won't let go of him, so I may have to forget about that idea.

Susanab and I will soon be organizing a craft swap of Junker Jane-style dolls; sign-ups will begin on December 2nd, and send-outs are way down the road on January 18th. The discussion thread is HERE.  If you like what you see here, please consider joining us!

Oh, Leslie! Do you ever sleep?

She's adorable and I love the reuse of the quilt for the body/dress.

I pulled some fabric samples - linen, velour and brocade - from the stash in the basement to see if I can put something together this weekend.

They are both so adorable and full of character!! Isabella's quilt front is so lovely. What a perfect use for your cutter. Henry looks like a real sweetie Smiley.

WOOHOO!! Great to see you're back, Shari! You are a GREAT doll-maker, we couldn't do without you!  Kiss

And I love the colours you used Leslie, such a sweet couple it is.

Oh and Susan, you're welcome! You are an amazing Junker-Jane-style maker, I secretly like yours better (than Junker Jane's), ssshhtt!
