I'm sick as a cat that I missed the Halloween contest here! I noticed there was another Ursula, as different from mine as could be (LOVE her tentacles)... but I'm proud of this and want to show it off!

I was lazy and used a skirt that I didn't much like for the main of the tentacles. Thankfully it already had a slight flare and a eight-panel pattern, so it was perfect. The "tentacle" fabric, not well seen in this shot, is lavender knit with potato printed suckers. THAT was super fun! The top is a old tank top I had lying around. The whole thing took four REALLY brutal evenings, but I felt pretty good about the end result. (Note: make longer tentacles next time)

Once I accomplished the dress, the big challenge was the hair: in my youth, we molded our mohawks from Elmer's glue. I was all set to do that, but my (much younger) colleague turned me onto Volumax from Sally Hansen. This stuff is AMAZING. A final coat of white hair color, some pretty fancy (for me) makeup, and I felt pretty A-OK about my offering at this year's bash!
