For the Stocking unicorn zombie apocalypse, my partner, the lovely jexxican, said that she liked French Knots.  In perusing her Pinterest, I saw that she also liked the color wheel - and not just any color wheel, but the additive/subtractive color wheels.  I chose the additive and made it out of French knots.

It took me a while to do (I think the hoop is 5 or 6 inches), but I adore the texture of it and how it turned out!
