No more received packages? Seems like there were a few that should have been arriving this week?

I can't believe more packages haven't arrived by now. If packages don't arrive by Friday I'm going to have to step in and give negatives. There has been plenty of time to remake any lost packages since the send date was in December, and we're now in April!

I still have my fingers double-double crossed that my second package will make it there! It sucks so much that there isn't tracking on international packages, but I understand the logistics of it -still wish I could figure out where the first one ended up though. I could post pictures of what I made, but I kind of don't want to spoil the surprise... as I said, still hoping it gets there!

Well it's high time I added my long lost swap item for Bunnie Boo. While I'm still so sad that both of my packages went AWOL, I hope the images can provide a little enjoyment here at least.

When I saw that Bunnie Boo is such an accomplished embroidery hooper I was instantly inspired to do a Sherlock hoop. Alas, my embroidery skills are elementary at best, so I employed my other varied skills and set to work. This is a 12" embroidery hoop fitted with a metal canister lid, to which I mod-podged a print of the lovely 221b wallpaper (and poked little holes for an authentic smiley). The depth of the lid made a convenient place to store the unused shrink-plastic figures, and a magnetic surface to display the selected ones. I had made several sheets of figures with props and such but the first batch through the oven warped and smeared horribly, so unfortunately the only sheets that worked really well were small and yielded only the figures you see here -but still, I was really pleased with how the Prismacolor pencil colors came out and how well they held. (That batch of shrink plastic was a rare fluke from a thrift find -I've never seen any like it before or since!)

Anyway, on to the images!




And of course I had to do Hedgehog-John and Otter-Sherlock as they were in her pinterest board!


I couldn't resist a holiday touch!



 

After the first package went missing I was rather distraught, but when I found a smaller hoop with a fitting lid I did it all again -this time clearly labeling the package as containing "magnets and magnet board" rather than just art (though that didn't seem to help it either!). I still suspect that there are a couple of customs agents with some Sherlock hoops in their homes...

Yours looks so nicely executed, I love the 3D effect.
Now I'm super inspired...

The customs people must have the coolest hoopla wall now!
