Ironman Chair - decoupage (Picture podgy)

I love old comics, especially Stan Lee stuff since he creates brilliant characters - and Ironman is my favourite I mean, cummon, the  guys a double PHD and Robert Downey Jr! What's not to love?

I had an old wood Ikea chair that was looking very dull in the corner of my room, so I picked up a cheap collection of some old Ironman comics and I set to crafting.
I'm pretty pleased with the results, given that it's my first real go at that kind of decoupage. I want to do a 2nd coat of ultra-gloss varnish, but since the weather today was clear enough to take piccies I figured I should take advantage - it'll be horrendous again in no time

I used PVA mixed with water as glue, then a proper podge gloss varnish (can't recall brand name off top of head). It was a bit tricky to do all the joints, and especially as I realised not all of the apparently straight lines were actually slightly curved - but with a bit of patience, and a lot of sorting though to find panels of appropriate dimensions I managed it

Wow, awesome from a distance, but up close, what crisp detail you achieved. I love it very much. Have never had much success from decoupage, but I've never tried pva glue before. INSPIRING!

Thanks! I'm no expert at all, and I thought I ought to use proper decoupage glue, but that stuff is kinda pricey - so I just decided to risk it and try the PVA (I thought, worse case scenario, I have to rip off and start again, no big deal). I did it just like Neil used to on Art Attack* - 2 parts PVA to one part water. Seemed to work well, the paper was slightly glossy on both sides but fairly standard weight.

*Uk kids art show that I use to be addicted too - I have no idea if it is know in the rest of the world
