I made this purse for a "Miskatonic county fair" entry at a recent event:

It is wet felted using a plastic resist. The outer is a mixed variety wool, the inside is brown welsh, which tends to be a bit of a spongy reluctant felter, but sometimes plays well with others.

The suckers were made using embedded glass baubles, these were wrapped in some red prefelt and secured with small hairbands. I put them between the two layers of green (the inside is two layers of the brown welsh). After felting the glass is removed using a felting needle to create and enlarge a hole, rather than cutting. This gives a smooth edge. The eyes were also from prefelt.

I happened to have some premade long "dreds" in green, so I braided four of them together to use for the strap. It almost integrated completely, but I did have to sew down one of the dreds that tried to escape.

The tentacle on the front was made by sewing a separate piece of plastic to the main resist, and carefully wrapping the fibers around this without felting it into the main purse. It is tough to photograph clear objects in low light, sorry. The longer lower tentacle wraps back across itself simply due to differential shrinkage during felting, as the resist does not have an overlap.

I made a linen lining and sewed it inside just to keep small objects from falling down into the tentacles. Otherwise there is no need for a lining in this type of purse.
