I was at the thrift store and found a plastic canvas "mug rug" for just $.05. It looks like many of the yarn mug rugs with the coffee cup, except it does not have fringe. I can tell it's two pieces of square canvas. The front has the vintage mug rug design (gray and white) and the back is a solid (gray) color. It looks like they did the front and back separately then bound the two together. It's nice, thick and very absorbent.
How do you estimate how much yarn is needed to complete one solid coaster?
ANSWER: approx 7 yds per side without the edge.
just wondering if I have enough yarn for a set of coasters.
The plastic canvas looks to be about 4" square.
If I understand it correctly, it has 7 stitches to the inch.
I thought for sure I would find this pattern on the net, but no luck.
In fact, I haven't found any coasters that are double-sided on the web.
Every design I found is felt backed, but this coaster looks a lot better.
I would appreciate some info on double-sided coasters.
