I'm not sure if this should be in reconstructed, but hey, whatever.

So anyways, I'm in love with zebra striped stuff. And I have these really old sandals that my friends have a habit of calling "those ugly old wind-mill sandals." so, my friends hate them, hahaha. So I decided to put the two together. And here we have the sandals. Actually I began to do one at like 3 o'clock one night, with my sock, cause I could'nt use anything else. So here is the tut! (As if one is needed  Huh )

OK. So here is what it looked like before: (This is the sandal that I did in the morning, not at night time. So theres the explanation for the light.)

So start off by painting on your base coat. I put a sock over my hand and put blobs of my fabric paint onto the sandal and rubbed it around. Some of the paint leaked through into the sock and got on my fingers, but it washed off easy.

So there you go. Ya got your base coat all done. The windmills on the sandal that I used were sorta texturized or raised or whatever, so I like how there is texture in it, but if you don't, choose a flat sandal.

Now do your design on the bottom of the sandal. I chose red squiggles. You don't have to do this. But you can only feel it alittle. Not sure about sweat issues yet though.

Now outline your stripes. I did about 5 or 6 stripes outlined, colored them in, did another set, etc.

After I was done doing all the filling in the stripes, it came out like this:

OK! so the only last thing you have to do it border around the stripes with the same color you used as the squiggles on the bottom. I used red for snazziness.

There! Fini!

Ok, so go enjoy them! I did...for a day. I wore them to a party but didn't leave til midnight so I couldn't find one of them out on the lawn in the darkness. So I have one at home and one at my friends house. Boo hoo.

Thanks for looking! That took more time than I thought it would! The pictures better work.

Comments? Criticism?

(please excuse the hole in the toe on one of the sandals. I told you they were old.)

They look really cute! I never thought of re-vamping my old sandals like that Smiley

When you wear them more, let us know if the fabric paint on the sole cracks -- that would be my biggest concern.

Yeh, I thought about that, but I'm pretty sure it won't, cause I've had that fabric paint on some shirts for a lllooonnnnggg time, lol, and it hasnt stopped working yet. I'll let you know, though, cause shoes might be different.
