I very nervously signed up for my first ever craft show.  This is the first (totally) finished piece that I've made.  Since I've never done a craft show before, I'm only making things that I would also like in my house (In the case that nothing sells.)

I bought an unfinished pine storage bench, stained it in green water-based stain then painted my illustrations on the back and front panel. The stain I used was by a Canadian company called SamaN. I would highly recommend it to anybody who needs to stain indoors or who is making stuff for kids - the stain is totally non-toxic and odourless (and no lapping marks is an awesome feature too.)

My sketches:

I'm very happy with how it turned out.  If it doesn't sell, I'll happily put it in my daughter's room.  Wink

Absolutely beautiful, have you thought of making framed prints/paintings to go along with the furniture? Parents love to have 'themes' for kids rooms and having small and large pieces as well as high and low(er) priced items give you more likelihood of selling. Not everyone is able to take furniture home with them but everyone has space for a picture/painting. Some people will want the whole lot!

Coming from a parent, buyer and seller of crafty stuff and also a Canada based craftster  Wink

Oh my goodness, that is the BEST toybox I've seen in a loooong time- your artwork is wonderful, and the overall design is so kid-friendly! Love the non-finger-nipping lid, plus how wonderfully sturdy it looks to be, but even more so, how GORGEOUS it is. Your toybox ROCKS! (Yeah, you got a "Rocks!", LOL!) If it doesn't sell, I'd be very, very surprised- someone's going to snatch that up in heartbeat!  Grin

Wow, thanks for your encouraging feedback, everybody!

Unfortunately this craft show doesn't accept framed wall art, but I think that's a great idea for the future.  I've got some keepsake boxes in progress and I've got tonnes of ideas for lamps and hanger things.  I did a forest theme for my daughters' nursery and I made a lot of that stuff, so I have a wack of ideas.  Unfortunately, I'm running out of time b/f the show... but I need to start somewhere, I guess...  Hopefully this works out for me.  My youngest daughter is turning 1 tomorrow and I've decided not to return to work from my maternity leave so that I can raise my girls full-time.  Crafting is my plan to make some extra money.  Embarrassed

As always, Craftster is so encouraging!  Thanks!
