This year for Halloween I wanted to be a character from Alice in Wonderland. I initially didn't have any particular character in mind, but my love for hearts and a black, white, and red color scheme made my decision pretty obvious. Rather than being the Queen of Hearts though, I decided to create a new character, The Princess of Hearts.

Since I was creating a new character I didn't have a set plan for what the finished costume was going to look like. I decided I was just going to sort of wing it as I went along  Tongue

I had some striped fabric laying around so I used that to start my costume with a basic corset. Then I added some red fabric for a skirt. At that point I wasn't sure what to do next, but then I stumbled upon this post: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=407658.0

It made me laugh a bit when I noticed she started with a black and white striped corset like I had already started for my costume :p  Maraleopard's dress inspired me for what to add to my costume. I didn't want to go as scrappy with my costume though. I decided to use bigger pieces of fabric to sew onto my costume base to keep it more simple.

After adding the pleated bottom of a dress I had never really worn, I added the final touches on my costume... the hearts! After those were on I went a little nuts with accessories for my costume. I made a small crown from stiffened lace, some white felt cuffs, painted converse, and a heart shaped shrug!

Okay, okay. Less chat, more pictures! Tongue

The heart shrug

The back of the dress without the shrug

My shoes, cuffs, and crown

Sadly this is the only picture of me in my costume that didn't turn out extremely blurry and since I don't have someone to take pictures of me in it right now this is all I have Sad  I really need to get myself a personal photographer Tongue

And since a friend of mine told me, "Never wear shorts under dresses, just wear cute underwear" I made some matching underpants! Cheesy

Thanks for looking! Comments are always welcome and appreciated!
