I wanted something cute and spooky at the same time this Halloween to adorn the front door. I saw on pinterest all kinds of fun yarn wreaths so I thought I'd give it a try.

I followed this youtube video to make the base out of two paper plates, some plastic baggies for stuffing and tape. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xG8W_Yijzrg

I wrapped the wreath form with Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick black yarn. I crocheted all the flowers using double strands of black, gray, and midnight colored scrap yarn. This is a good and FAST scrap busting project. I used various sized crochet hooks, too. I found the glittery spiders at the 99 cent store (3/99 cents! What a steal!)

I arranged the flowers and spiders and hot glued them on. The whole project took less than an evening. I watched a whole episode of Walking Dead and Talking Dead right after!

Awesome! I've been wanting to make a Halloween Wreath, but I just didn't know how to make the base for it. I'm jealous!  Cheesy

That's really cute! I love it when you happen to have the perfect yarn in your stash which is definitely what happened here. Also that's a pretty clever way to make a base. I'd have just run out and bought a foam base, so good thinking on that. Cheesy

Thanks all for the lovely positive comments! I really wanted to try to spend as little money as possible since my hubby has challenged (ahem*) me to do so. I had all of the supplies already including the paper plates. I just bought the spiders this year. So the whole project only set me back 66 cents! I've been inspired to make a Thanksgiving one and a Christmas one, too!  Kiss
