I had this idea for quite a while after seeing this at a local Hobby Lobby:

I loved the metal bird cage and the shadow box effect. There was a lot and error in the construction of the frame. I made a smaller prototype to use for experimenting and found that two canvases, a foam board, hot glue and a staple gun were the way to go. The pages are from an old beat up copy of Alice in Wonderland that I purchased at a thrift store for another project a few years ago. The more time consuming challenge was locating a usable wire bird cage which I ended up finding by change at a craft store.

I am very pleased with the final product and can't wait for the varnish to dry so I can hang it on my wall!

Really neat!! I like the dimensionality of the cage. I prefer yours to the one that inspired it Smiley.

Aww, thanks! I liked the idea but the execution of the original really wasn't my style. This happens to me frequently, a lot of projects start from a picture of something I saw when shopping.

I agree with LimeRiot; yours is way cooler than the inspiration.  Smiley  love it.

I love this! I'm going to have to remember to get my camera out next time I see something inspirational. I also like yours better than the HL version.

It's a great practice! I snap pictures on my phone when I am out and about. I also have a folder of pictures that I have saved from the web, that was before Pinterest though lol.

grr...I tried liking your comment like I was on Facebook.  lol

I do the same thing!  I have my Pinterest board of inspiration, but I found pictures on the web and in stores, took pictures, then filed them into a folder on my computer.  Grin

of course you're not alone in that!  lol!  I'd been doing it since before Wists even!  I still stash some pictures on my computer now though.  Wink

I've been here, chatting in the chat areas and posting some stuff here and there.  but yeah, swaps had to stop too due to moving and now lack of funds.  Cry
