What a crazy Halloween season!  The Army moved us and I didn't get back my household goods until Oct 15!  So non-stop, 24 hour a day crafting with multiple hot glue blisters (I finally got smart and bought gloves to protect my hands) and I finished an elf, the Lorax and Ironman!  Shocked

My elf was probably the easiest and most traditional.

The cape was Butterick 4377 it was an adult size but I cut it down.  I used it because the hood was so full.  The white fabric was crushed panne and the lining was a halloween purple with shiny stars. I sewed a comb on the top of the hood so we could secure it far back on her head so we didn't hide the ears.

The dress was McCalls 5499 view B but I added long sleeves.

My only real creative part on this was the ears:

I used 6mm foamies sheets and some 1/4 inch foam from an exercise mat as well as glue, white paint and liquid latex

I cut the shape for the top of the ear and then used an exacto knife to slit the foamie open

I cut regular foam on an angle to glue to the top of her ear and around the edge and painted it all with a layer of glue and white paint.

And lastly I painted the whole thing with flesh colored liquid latex (I happen to have some from other costumes but you could probably substitute glue and flesh colored paint.

I glued the whole thing on with stick glue and they were really sturdy and never lifted off.  Worked perfectly with her hair Smiley

And I'll be posting separately for the other costumes but here's a pic of the whole group

WOW. The costume is great but that is nothing compared to how beautiful you are. You know there is a costume contest. Get your butt over there and post. Better yet, move your post to challenge number 80, RIGHT NOW!

Thanks so much lovesclutter!
But, unfortunately, I can only enter one costume and I've already entered my Lorax.

I think I just found religion...would you mind if I worship you? Seriously, pulling off this really lovely elf costume in such a tight window with all the fun of an abrupt military move is a feat in and of itself but the other 2 as well! I looked at their postings as well and I must say...you are my new god. There, I said it. (I promise, no human or animal sacrifices and the shrine in my closet is only mildly creepy.)

Lol...I require a monetary tithe instead of sacrifices Cheesy
Thanks for the praise and the appreciation of the time crunch...for the first time my husband said to me "I don't see how you're going to finish it all in time." and usually he has complete faith in me. I get such a rush if I can finish my projects on time Smiley
