For years, I have wanted to be Jem from Jem and the Holograms. I loved that show as a kid and have fond memories of jumping around, dancing and singing with it playing in the background.

This year, I made my dream a reality. It all started with a terrible pink dress I found on Ebay.

I still shiver when I see that picture. I shortened and de-ruffled it. Then I made the belt out of some silver vinyl and blue glitter glue. The earrings are cardboard and pink glitter, the shoes are some old heels I glitterfied with modge podge and pink glitter. I bought the industrial size bottle of pink glitter for this outfit, don't worry. The wig, I found on Ebay, and it is a surprisingly nice wig. Bonus: it was really easy to wear! No itchy head for me.

and one more just because I like it....  Wink

Thanks for looking! I hope you enjoyed my truly outrageous costume!

That's awesome! I loved Jem and you did a great job recreating the costume. Also having all that glitter is a nice touch. No such thing as too much glitter, I say.

Wow, amazing job! And you can never have too much glitter, especially when you're a rock star!

I love those shoes!!!!!! I thought about being Jem for Halloween, but I would have driven my husband insane singing
"Jem, Jem is outrageous, OHH Jem" Repeatedly. Just to be clear that's all I would be singing, just that 1 remembered phrase over and over again.

This is great! My mom made me a Jem costume when I was a kid. It's one of the only costumes I remember! I've thought about doing it again myself. I bet I could even find an old picture. Great job!
