Hey, Everyone.  Happy Halloween!  Here is the monstery cyclops costume I made for our annual Boo @ the Library event.

I started with a base made out of upholstery foam, made a fitted cover out of fleece and set in a pair of sleeves with attached mittens, stitched on the features, made a monster sized necklace, built the paws up with foam and fleece around a pair of bedroom slippers, and rigged a hiking pack with some pvc poles to hold the whole thing up.

Here is a closeup of the face:

And of the claws and the skulls and bones necklace:

Thanks for looking!

Wow--this is very cool!  I worked with some puppet makers on a show, once, and this looks similar to how they make things.  Awesome!

Thank you!  It's funny you say that...  The upholstery foam was actually left over from puppets I made for a St. Patrick's Day puppet show at the library.  You're right, I used lots of the same techniques to make the costume.  Small world, I guess.  Smiley

There are always one or two who are scared that something big is walking towards them.  But for the most part, I was walking around with them trying to climb up my side and give me hugs.  Smiley
