Peashooter Stocking Stuffers - featuring Elmer's products

I'm a terrible influence on my kid and most other children around me. Here is proof!

For Christmas this year I'm going to plonk a peashooter kit into the stockings of all the children on my list. Here's what you'll need to make your own:

  • Elmer's Painters Neon Colors
  • X-ACTO Gripster Craft Knife
  • X-ACTO Self-Healing Cutting Mat
  • Cork mat
  • Straws
  • Thumbtack and string or small easel

The self-healing mat has a really handy measuring grid which I used to cut my cork mat into 4" squares. The X-ACTO mat is fab because the gird is in inches with the half inch lines marked in a lighter weight, making measuring a quick and easy task. I used the Gripster Craft Knife and you'll definitely want to use a blade too. Scissors will tear, not slice the cork. The Gripster Craft Knife is a nice tool and the tightening mechanism placement at the top, rather than bottom near the blade, was a feature appreciated by a number of Master Craftsters (myself included).

Using different sized objects, I created circles that decreased in size on the cork. For my 4" boards, I made 4 concentric circles.

Next, using the Elmer's Painters Neon Colors paint markers I coloured in the circles. The pens are great for this. The medium tip painters may not be appropriate for fine detail, but for colouring in? Perfect.

Pair your target with a colourful straw, and a little easel and your all set!

If you can't find those small stands, simply push a thumbtack into the top the cork, adding a dab of Elmer's Glue to keep it secure.

Tie a string around the pin and you're ready to hang and shoot!

Cheesy!!  I love these.  If you have to be a terrible influence, at least you are doing it through adorable craft projects.

I agree--the kids need something naughty in their stockings! Cheesy

What a fun project!  I think the BIG kid, needs one, too---he will probably get in loads of trouble, though...

Ha, what a great project! I don't think I'll be encouraging my nephs to do this though, they already get into enough trouble Cheesy

haha!  There's no better person to have around then the terrible influence.  Think of all the lessons the kids will learn!
These are great little crafts, I'm thinking they could even be done with kids, with little to no problem.  How fun Cheesy
