I knit some TARDIS socks for my partner in the latest Doctor Who swap.

I started with this pattern by Keladry Bonnett: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/tardis-socks
But i only have size 2 needles, so the first one started out fine... then it started becoming huge. Like, legwarmers huge. That's what i get for not swatching, right?

So, i started over, using a basic heel flap pattern i've used before by PetYarn: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/basic-heel-flap-socks

I modified the first chart to fit the lesser stitch count.
And i made the windows a little bit shorter.

I didn't really care for the "textured" part of the pattern (the squares), so i looked for other TARDIS socks and ran across these by buxtrosin on flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/buxtrosion/7058806299/
I liked that better, so i borrowed it.

So, these are the ones i sent to my partner:

(Thank you, sparks, for the picture.)

The only semi-good picture i could get:

Then i had a bunch of yarn left over. I had only used tiny amounts of black and white, so i made myself a pair.

I finished them in the hospital while my sister was being induced and we waited for my nephew to be born.

So again, i drew inspiration from two patterns and one random photo, so there's no one pattern i can give you.

Needles: US size 2
Yarn: Knit Picks Palette -- 2 balls of Jay*, 1 ball each of White and Black (just remember you only use small, small amounts of the white and black)

I used 1 ball of Jay, but i did end up needing to join the second ball right at the very end. I mean, i only had a couple more rows to do before i grafted the toe together. So, depending on how tall and how long your socks are, i would say it's probably best to get 2. To be safe.

If you have any questions, ask away.

I've made these too and I don't care for the textured part either. and also, I kept mine as leg warmer huge and put blobs of slipper sock goop on the bottoms and gave them away as slipper socks lol.
