I received from Radmom. I love everything!! It made me giggle like a fiend. Smiley I could either post giant photos or little ones and the little were really little, so I went with giant. I apologize in advance.

The first thing I pulled out was a fantastic Halloween hat, that is totally going to be my winter hat.

And me modeling it.

An amazing Samhain plaque.

And some flipping beautiful jewelry.

A fairy necklace, that the pictures do not do justice.

Pentacle earrings, that will be worn all the time.

And this ridiculously fabulous bracelet. I loves it so much.

She also sent me a magnet, and a quartz point, and the card.

And here is my Samhain altar with the new addition!! I am doing my Samhain ritual on Saturday, because our beggars night was last night.

Thank you Raven!!! I love every bit. Smiley

At last! here's the pictures of what Melissa sent us this round:
First, to my request, a magical book of fairies for Mariann:

and vintage paper dolls:

Pair of earings:

Pan drawing:

A hand bound sketch book:

I wish I had photographed the inside on it, it's made with story book pages, very pretty!
And fall-colored crocheted dishcloths!!!

We love everything, Melissa! Merrick did doodle on your note and the earrings while no one was looking :S and the blurry pictures are curtesy of Mariann.

Tee hee, that's fine, Andreann. I'm so happy you and the kids liked the package! The pictures of Mariann holding the book are priceless! Smiley Plus, a little doodles make everything more awesome.

Spaz, what a haul! The hat looks fantastic, and I looove the faery necklace!

I'll have my pictures up by tonight hopefully. I think we've managed to fix our darn camera. *grumbles* Great gallery so far, everyone!!

So here are the goodies I got from Andreann (aka Mamantattoo). She gave me such lovely things, I am so happy!!! So, without further ado, some pictures of the goodies (Andreann, if you have any more pictures, feel free to add them. I tried to get some good ones, but my camera is being such a bum, I got what I could out of it)

First up, all the goodies together. Included were a gathering apron (which I was going to get an action shot in, but it snowed the day I picked up the package) some felted acorns, some sewn baskets that nest inside each other, a wire-wrapped pentacle, some Samhain yarn that she she spun herself!!!, and the most AMAZING Ganesha doll!!!! Eep!

Is he not the most fantastic thing you've ever seen?! The needle-felted axe, flower and sweets are genius! He has quite the sense of humour, sitting on my altar. He's incredibly happy there!!

Here are the smaller things. Some needle felted acorns (so cute!! My mom's been eyeing them up since I got them) and the wire wrapped pentacle. And I had to get a picture of the notorious ''. I told Andreann that I loved how my name sounded french, and she laughed because she had put it in the letter she sent. Smiley

And another picture of Ganesha. He sits so well (although his pants like to come off...I don't know what to say about that...).

Thank you SO MUCH Andreann, I LOVE everything. I'm so happy I got you as my swap partner again, you're a joy to swap with!!

Oh! And here's a picture of my altar over the summer. I think a few of you can see some goodies you sent me up there! Smiley Just a little bit extra, since I know we all love looking at altars:

Great stuff, folks! Love the hat, Betsy, and the jewelry. Those beads on the earrings are so perfect - it's amazing how much difference they make to the look of them.

Normally I think dreamcatchers are a bit unimaginative, but that's a brilliant one! I'd never get tired of looking at it!

And MamanT's Ganesha is adorable, even if he has trouble keeping his pants on!

Question:

I want one of those larger candles that have been engraved with any Pagan sign sketched into it. However, I can't seem to make them look correct. I have seen several in the different WWP swap. I can't imagine that they are hard to make. Can someone tell me how they make them?

Thanks, J

For the one I send the Melissa (the yellow with the Deer) I used a kitchen knife. I don't really know how to explain how I did, though...

Another way to do candles is this way:

http://www.craftbits.com/project/tissue-paper-candle

I did a lot of candles like this for holiday gifts embossed with a Christmas tree. People loved it.

You could draw your own symbols too.

If you want to do an engraved candle, the best way I can explain is like this:

-Make sure you pick a fairly simple pattern when you first start out. (the more complex, the easier it is for the wax to chip off in places you don't want it to chip off, which will happen some no matter what you do, especially when you're starting).
-I usually use a needle or a thumbtack to carve the contours of the design DEEP in to the candle (they won't show up when you start removing wax, so the deeper you can go, the better. This will, again, stop the wax from chipping off)
-Then carefully begin removing the wax from the candle, in the area of your design. I usually use a knife, or a strong straw can sometimes work well. Just keep working and it should peel off quite nicely, especially if you've scored deep in to the candle. Once you get under the coloured wax, it comes off pretty easily.

Hope those tips help. Smiley The tissue paper candles look lovely, too...never thought of doing them that way before...

I'm intrigued by the tissue paper method too. Especially as you could stamp or paint your design. Just remember to only do it with a large candle, because you don't want the shell of tissue paper (that will remain as the candle burns to be too close to the flame.

Another way to help keep your candle from chipping as you carve the outside is to warm it enough to soften the outside slightly. A dip in hot water should be enough. Don't heat it enough to actually make the wax soft, though, or you'll never be able to avoid fingerprints on it. Sad

I like an X-acto knife for wax carving. Neat-obsessed, I guess. I just like the glassy smoothness you can get on the wax with a thin, sharp blade.

Okay, I am terribly sorry for the lateness in uploading pictures. We had a lot of issues with our network server. Also unfortunately, I had to take these pics with my crappy cellphone because my camera charger has vanished. These items I got from Spazgirl1981

Goddess Canvas art 8x10 Multi Medium and I love it

Candles black and orange, funny part was I went nuts looking for these and no one seemed to have them, including my Wally World

Bobbles- All kinds of goodies for my steampunk love

wristlets- again inspired by my pinterest and they fit.

A canvas pentacle cauldron necklace. Isn't it cute!?!

Thanks Betsy for everything!!!

I received yesterday from hawkeyes girl and love! You shouldn't have worried at all!  HG made me a beautiful fabric bowl from my wists and it is the perfect size for my altar!  The colors are perfect for Yule as well!  I took the first picture yesterday, but I should have done the whole lot then.. Today's pictures are terrible as we are getting a snow/rain storn Sad

First up I will show an "action shot" My Boobah decided that this fabulous fabric bowl should really be her new hat.....

And now what all came in the package and how it should be used!

The whole lot, with the bowl in proper use full of chocolates for me and the fam.    Next to that is a size view of the bowl with all its quilting details.  The outside is greens and the inside is a deep reddish pink, very very pretty in real life.  My crap pictures don't do it justice!  Second row has a hand written Brighid's House Blessing which will go into my BoS as well as some home grown, hand picked organic sage from HG's garden Smiley LOVE the way it smells.  I hope to be able to smudge with it?  and finally a set of super cute candles for my altar.  They smell like the sage, not sure if they are suppose to, but hey I will take it. They are sitting on top of a extra fat quarter of some beautiful green fabric.

Thank you for such an awesome swap package!

I received the most amazing package the other day, a hand crocheted bag with the triple goddess on the front. I tried and tried to get a good picture of it but my camera is crap Undecided

This is my daughter modeling the bag. She tried to take off after the camera shoot, but of course I wouldn't let her.

This is a close up of the symbol. The material is actually dark brown. Not sure why my camera would not show the color.

I absolutely love this bag!! Thank you frogprincess!!!!!

I'm posting pictures - you have no idea how horrible I am at this part of swapping.

I received the most amazing package!

I cried when I opened it. Since my screen name is Selkie, it's kinda obvious that I have a thing for seals. (Gaelic word for seal and mythological creatures who can remove their sealskin to become human.) As an aside, I went to Orkney, Scotland in March to celebrate my 40th birthday and I stood on the very beach where the myth of the selkies began.

Without further ado...

The bag was knitted and crocheted  Smiley It started as a cloth and then spiraled into a bag. It seemed to take on a mind of its own as i made it.  the colours on the bag were supposed to be black and silver ....but lighting can be different and black can look brown...the lining is a grey/silver satin. I am so happy you liked it .im sorry it looks brown Sad

here are a few pics . Smiley

My package from Selkie has arrived!  There's been the usual few days delay as I charge camera batteries, find cables, and generally get my caboose together, but here goes...

Three lovely cloths... two are already in use, wrapped around my tarot cards

A knitted and felted bag which will be used to store wonderful things

The most MAGNIFICENT reading cloth/altar cloth - feet included for scale.  I love this so much

The reverse is luscious black velvet.  I do readings via email, and the reverse side is fantastic for taking photos of card spreads, so both sides are going to get some love. Smiley

Thank you SO much Selkie - this has been a wonderful swap!

I'm so glad you liked everything!
I had some serious swap anxiety after I got your package!
Blessed be!

Power is strength and the ability to see yourself through your own eyes and not through the eyes of another. It is being able to place a circle of power at your own feet and not take power from someone else's circle.
