Decided to share this envelope system wallet I made with you all.

A little over a year ago now the hubs and I took part in Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University program at our church. We thought it was really awesome and we learned a lot and put a lot of good things into practice. While it's taking us a while to get past step 1, we're still motivated and things are definitely moving in the right direction - I recommend it if you hear about it.

Part of the program teaches you to use an envelope system for your finances, so that you spend cash instead of debit. This has made a HUGE difference in our spending habits, however, the paper envelope system wallet that we got with our FP kit is looking at little... well... ragged. So I thought I'd whip something up and see how it worked out.

I'm really pleased with the end result - so here it is!

C&C Welcome!
Tea.

that's great. my sister-in-law uses that system. she also keeps an envelope in their safe with money their family members recieve as gifts, so they know when the birthday money has been spent.

This is wonderful! I love the fabric too. I would love to be able to sew one of these for my coupons.

Thanks everyone! I'm loving it. It's totally functional. The fabric is from Ikea, and it matches my purse  - you can see it here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=405733.msg4779656#msg4779656

So, not only am I keeping up with my envelopes, but I'm coordinated too!

Tea.

This is great!  I love Dave Ramsey, too, and I think this is a very pretty way to keep your "envelopes"!

This would totally work for coupons as well. I just tuck my coupons in the category envelope that matches up, but if you weren't doing the envelope system you could just use the envelopes for coupons!
